Wirrals hidden gem.

For a public course this is a hidden gem, out of the four on the wirral this is by far the prettiest, the greens could do with the council spending money on them but this time of year (summer) brings out its best features, tree lined fairways make it a tough test especially if you cant hit a straight drive, for ?13.50 a round well worth a visit.

Good parkland course

First time out this season. Course in pretty good condition though there is some damage to both the 15th and 17th green.

Brackenwood much improved

Since lockdown, I have played this course on a weekly basis, and compared to the last quarter of 2019, I would say that the improvements are significant.
Generally, the greenkeepers have done a great job. Now all we need is for the council to sort the drainage out.

Local Municipal Parkland Course

My local municipal course a fairly gentle test of your game. Some tight driving holes and some O.B. On this particular day the greens were atrocious except for 3 holes. Looked like greens may have some sort of fungal disease. Pity as greens have always been some of the best for local municipal courses.

played with a society - greens "spongey" but in good condition - tee boxes were a bit rough - but for a tenner it represented excellent value

Just played this course and to my surprise this was a great course with loads of variety and really quite challenging layout. The course is fundamentally a great design, some narrow fairways, difficult rough and long ball hitting required at times.

After a summer like we've had, it's hardly surprising that there were some rough areas on the tee and the greens were spongey and difficult to read. However, it's a muni for £13 a round...not a £60-£70 per round club. The people who are expecting a manicured course at this price need to get a grip and go and pay the big bucks if that's what they want.

I would recommend to anyone who likes a challenge, is looking for an enjoyable knock for a bargain price. Pristine and manicured is great now and then for a treat, but the rest of us normal folk could do worse than have a round here.

Last Game - (Course Closed)

Absolutely gutted this was out last game here as the council have decided to close the course down. Hopefully the community can save the course and persuade the powers to be to reopen as its a great course when well maintained.

The course is very wet at the moment and only playing the bottom 9 holes, there are 4 temp greens which are not that good, however the course is holding up well and reduced green fees make it worthwhile, with a few days of dry weather should see the full course open.

Nice parkland course

This is a great little course however, at this time of year it is not in the most playable of conditions.
The fairways are currently quite wet and muddy in many places and bunkers are generally compacted.

played today and course very good greens not quite there but getting there except for the 15th & 17th which both have areas of GUR otherwise enjoyable. just hope the council invest some of the money they are taking in and give it to green staff to improve greens etc.
