Great winter course but….
Cold wintry conditions yet the course was packed. Well over 4 hours for a 2 ball & asking to play through met with staid comments about the 4 ball in front. Sigh. Good tees, fair & good running fairways& rapid high summer style greens with hugely challenging pin positions.Reviewer Rating

Regular Tuesday Visit
Six of us descended onto Blakes. An hour before we were due to play the heavens opened and soaked most of Essex. This turned the course into a very lush state and the only thing it affected were the bunkers which we used a GUR.The Greens were fantastic, not easy to read but generally very playable and fast even though we had all that rain.
This was our ninth visit and we will definitely be back, The only issue is there is no breakfast facility on a Tuesday so we go elsewhere, I am sure it would pay for itself if there was someone there to make it.
Its a hidden Gem so sssh.

a sunny August day
First impressions of the clubhouse when booking in was that the club was minimising service to keep the club open, Ot on the course the green were in good nick although the fairways and bunkers acceptable.Interesting layout of the holes with plenty of challenge. Only on the last two holes was a clearance over a lake required.

Nice challenge
Blakes was a new one for me. It seems longer than the card says, with a spectacular island hole 8th. Fairly open. A few long walks from green to next tee, tge signposting on course could be better. Held up a bit going round as well. The free airshow from nearby North Weald was good too.Reviewer Rating

Bunkers very poor-stoney ,should be revamped or grow over, Tees need mowing greens a bit fluffy in places. Could be a very good course with some hard work.Reviewer Rating
