The course is maintained to a high standard and the staff in the clubhouse are always very friendly and welcoming.

Regular society events are held there and the catering is always to a high standard

Elevated 'American style' greens. Well bunkered with few trees but strategically positioned ponds and ditches.

get there now

This course is due to shut on 16th October so if you want to play it you have 14 days. A flat but not uninteresting course I have enjoyed for the last 12 years as a member I am sad to see it go.

Enjoyable course in good condition

My friend and I played at The Bedford in October 2019 following a few days of incessant rain. The course drains extremely well so the course was in remarkable condition considering the recent wet weather. The course is pretty flat so is not a hard course to negotiate. It has a few interesting holes and is a reasonable test of golf. The bunkers were in very good condition - I should know as I visited six of them during my round! In the clubhouse we found the food to be very good - as we have always done. All in all, a good place to play a round of golf and eat in the clubhouse afterwards.

Golfshake Team ReviewFairly wide and forgiving off the tee. A few holes are fairly fiddly and not ideal to hit a driver.

If you aren't a long hitter you should really enjoy this course. The greens were super slick even though they had been worked on and can only imagine them being great all year round.

Is quite exposed so if the wind picks up could play a part in your round.

A very decent, if not a bit 'short', layout. Greens had just been hollow cored so whilst not at what I'd imagine are their best were still as good as if not better than any others in the locale. Shame about the 8th being reduced to a par three, but overall it's still a very decent challenge when the wind is up! Especially holes 15, 16 & 17. Friendly & helpful staff throughout. Would definitely play again.

I have played this course many times over the past year during which time the course has been consistently and carefully improved by the current management. The tees and greens have been superb throughout the year and, due to the excellent drainage, this is probably the best winter course in the county and regularly hosts the area pro-am competitions. The course can get a little dry in the summer but the tees and greens are well watered and will always hold a well hit shot!! The pro shop, bar and restaurant facilities are all excellent and very good value.

The course is one of the best to play in the winter months because the tees and greens are excellent. Fairways in very good condition. Overall good course, challenging in the wind. Sadly the two par threes, numbers 8 and 9 are the only thing that disappoints. Hole 8 was a par 4 until a local resident complained about golf balls breaking the glass in his greenhouse. Good course.

Very friendly and helpful in the shop, nice comfortable bar, not stuffy in any way.\\Our group played a few times in the winter and found the fairways drained fantastically. Although they can get a bit \'linksy\' and fast running in summer, they have improved in terms of definition and growth in summer thanks to extensive work.\\The greens are outstanding and you need a decent touch to navigate the subtle yet slippery borrows - but they run very true. Tee\'s are top notch too, no trouble finding a flat lie. Only downside was the temporary tee on the 8th hole, which has been shortened to a par 3 after a few years of legal wrangling. The club have tried to make the best of this by redesigning the banking around the green and filling in the bunkers which were a bit stony anyway.\\Overall the course presents a gentle challenge from tee to green although holes 15, 16 & 17 can be a formidable finish as they\'re played straight into the prevailing wind.\\Great value on the 2-4-1 days

I quite often play here for a change from my current club. It has the feel of a links course. I have never been disappointed and the greens are fantastic - fast, tricky, true and beautifully presented the last couple of times I have played. Plays pretty short in the summer off the yellow tees due to lots of roll on the hard sand-based fairways and rough. Good bar / restaurant and always very friendly. Also great 2 for 1 deals available. A real shame the best par 4 (8th) has had to be shortened to a par 3 because of somebody growing exotic cacti in their greenhouse (honestly) close to the left hand border of the course.

Bedford Golf Club. Despite the dreadful winter the course was in surprisingly good condition Only one temporary tee and the greens were good. Parkland course and not too easy to lose a ball. A bit pricey at £35 on a Saturday but it was an enjoyable round.

The course is very flat, so it's easy to walk. There are quite a few small lakes that come into play, and because it's flat, these expand when it rains, making some of the holes even tighter. The course meanders through a housing estate (large expensive houses) so try to keep it straight off the tee! Greens are usually in good, fast condition, and quite sandy, so they drain well. The bunkers are not very good - very little poor quality sand in them. I haven't played it since the new owners took it over in mid 2008 - the owners include the 2007 World Golf Trick Shot Champion - Geoff Swain.

Sadly, this course is probably closing at the end of this year for housing development. It will be sorely missed by golfers, joggers and dog walkers in the Bedford area.

As tricky as you make it

Nice course, just recovering from lockdown neglect. Tees and greens in excellent condition, fairways dry/burnt and lumpy: although, this does give you greater distance, than normal, either the carry.
