Whilst never likely to rank in the top tier of courses in the county, Basingstoke is nonetheless a superb golf course where an ability to use the ground and play the running game is far more important than being able to hit the thing high. Aficionados will appreciate the empathise on genuine golf skills and the lack of silly eye candy in the form of any artificial nonsense. All in all a very worthy, proper golf course which, with the increasing realisation that many of the over watered Americana tracks of the 1980's were not actually good golf courses, is sure to increasingly attract visitors.

Played this course as a four ball with a friend who had won a free round in a competition. Have played several courses and for the price it charges it is a bit of a let down. The dress code is pretty comical but the membership on the course were worse. Obviously not happy to see visitors on their course and from the efforts of the fourball in front had spent more time selecting the correct socks and not enough practising their drives. Try Dummer up the road, friendlier, better value and a better round

Noisy course - next to main road and then M3 along another side. Snooty local membership too. Both on the course and in the clubhouse. Fairways and greens were in good condition, but the course is not that interesting - too up and down. Won't be going back.

Parkland beauty
Society day first time played. Very welcoming staff and great food and hospitality.Strong course, fairways suffering from all this warm weather, but greens immaculate and running well(Round played: Jul 2018 - Score: 87 Handicap: 14)

clubhouse and food is wonderful, course unfortunately playing temporary greens and partial winter tees, better to be played in the summer.

I currently play at a 28 handicapp. I went to Basingstoke Golf Club. It was very pretty. I found the dress code a bit rediculous as I go could show up in scabby shorts and red above the ankle socks, but you couldn't wear ankle socks. As it was a tournament, I played off the whites and it was easy for the most part. I found myself far more challenging than the course. There were no water hazards, so I thought they would have more difficult bunkers or something to add the odd challenge. Maybe it's my inexperience that lead to me think a private club would be more challenging.

Mature parkland course.
Mature parkland course with fast greens and intelligent bunker positions. Really enjoyed playing the course. Decent pro shop and the food in the clubhouse was great. Polite and friendly staff as well.(Round played: Sep 2020 - Score: 91 Handicap: 16.9)
