Greens were absolutely terrible normally good but never played on such bad greens

Terrible
The best part of my experience at this course was the sausage baguette we had before we started, I suppose you get what you pay for. £20 does not get you a great day out on a great course it got us a very poor course with tees you needed a hammer to get a tee into the ground, greens that were not at all responsive and very poorly kept with bare patches on several, and some one dug a ditch that seems to meander over most of the course, the bunkers were badly maintained with a mixture stone mud and sand, and the dinner plates are the smallest i have ever seen 1 slice of ham 1 egg 10 chips GREATReviewer Rating

usually excellent...

Long, well kept course
My friend and I have played at Barkway a number of times over the years and played there in December 2021 on a very cold and windy day. The course is a long one (6600 yards off the yellows) and was made longer to walk by the roping off of many of the walkways between holes. It's probably because of measures like this that the course was in good condition so we didn't mind. The greens here have always been good and this time was no exception. We didn't stay for food on this occasion but we would come back here again.Reviewer Rating

A challenging course for short hitters as most holes are long. Fairways are a little scruffy, so played preferred lies even though summer, but greens were very good. For ?10 for midweek very good value.

Good value for money midweek at ?10 for 18 holes. Lovely layout, long course and fairly forgiving. Greens are pretty bad and lots of pitch marks left in them from players not repairing. Overall good value for money.

Good value
Fairways could do with being cut shorter and some of the greens a little roller on them.Friendly club with an on site snack bar.

Green staff trying very hard to keep the course in tip top condition watering the greens during the day to help keep them in top condition rough is good not as penal as some courses(Round played: Jun 2020 - Score: 96 Handicap: 18.1)
