What the club says: Located just 1 mile outside the historic market town of Henley on Thames, Badgemore Park offers the visiting golfer a challenging, cleverly designed but most enjoyable 18 hole layout. Stunning views await as you play through historic parkland amongst numerous mature specimen trees that themselves form part of the course’s defence and beauty. Set upon the Chiltern Hills, the course benefits from superb natural drainage and this is complimented during dry spells by a full fairway irrigation system ensuring greens, tees and fairways are always in pristine condition and a joy to play on. Visitors are most welcome to Badgemore and we are proud to be recognised as one of the most friendly club's in the area.

Very interesting challenging course
The course has some fantastic interesting holes and gets very tight towards the end. Unfortunately was very wet in places but I think everywhere else would be the same unless chalk basedReviewer Rating

Surprisingly good!
Having never played this course before despite living less than 10 miles away, I wasn't expecting great things when I paid my £22 green fee for a March midweek afternoon of golf as a one-ball. I'd heard good things recently though from other golfing friends, so was looking forward to seeing what Badgemore had to offer, without holding too much hope for a high-quality golf course. The pro shop was well stocked and the gentleman behind the counter was very welcoming and set me on my way. He mentioned the course was in great nick after the past week of good weather and that the greens were running well. The practice putting green confirmed this, despite looking a little iffy to the eye, it ran quick and true.
The course itself in terms of layout and challenge to a low handicap golfer isn't top notch. With only one par 5 - easily reachable in 2 off the tips - it seems apparent that space and land wasn't accommodating for anything more. A number of the holes were quite samey... in particular three of the last four holes all being dogleg right par 4s between 320 and 350 yards. Despite this, the front 9 had good variety and a mix of get-able and tough holes. In particular, there are a challenging set of par 3s all measuring over 175 yards off the whites (length not always a good thing on par 3s in my opinion, but it adds something for this course I felt). The start of the back 9 is also interesting and the course generally requires accuracy from the tee as the trees come into play both for wayward drives and on the approaches to the greens. Playing this course second time around will be good, as will knowing pin positions as this can very much impact your lines from the tee. The 18th has had a nice recent addition with a pond in front of the green, which makes for a visually pleasing approach... a really nice way to finish the round and the investment in the clubhouse and facilities is apparently significant and ongoing.
What made Badgemore stand out was the pace and quality of the greens. Some of the best greens I've played on full stop - true and very quick... get the wrong side of the hole here and you'll be struggling to score well. How lovely to feel as though you can make a stroke on your putts and trust the lines to hold true. And in March, after what can only be described as a shocking start to the year, weather-wise. Kudos to the greenkeepers for getting the greens in this shape so early in the season. I'll enjoy seeing them in the summer when they've had some time to fine-tune them! The fairways and rough were also kept well for the time of year - again, it'll be good to see the course once it's had some months of grass growth.
All in all, a really lovely afternoon and incredible value at £22 for a "twilight" round in March. Couldn't recommend highly enough if you want a value round in this area.
