A little repetitive

After the first few holes the course is generally very down one and then turn round and go back. Greens were in good condition. Some nice views but there are better courses to play locally. Service after our round was very poor to the fact that half the group playing didn't get served and left.

Good course

course looked very good, there was some damage to the first few greens and the rest were very bump and make it difficult to putt, but I'm sure it was just the time of year, will try again in the summer.

Played with the winter tees. Generally set in front of the normal tee boxes so course played shorter. Winter tees in decent condition, more importantly the greens/drainage were very good for the time of year. Some elevation changes and some decent holes. A good winter course, an average summer course.

Nice course with some long challenging holes, the rough is really rough and course knowledge can be key on some holes. Would definitely play again.

Long established downland course that has evolved over the years. Originally a 9 holer, it has been a full 18 hole circuit for many years and is now a good mix of Downland and parkland holes. Four of the new holes after a delightfull walk through some woods, are a bit up and down, but the first of these can be a real brute though and is deserving of its low SI rating. If you time it right though, you might find the tea hut open at the start of these holes.
Overall, a fairly easy walking couse, but stiff climbs up to 3rd tee and thence 3rd green, but not too bad.
Although not in the same league as the heathland courses of South Dorset, it is a very friendly and quite testing course, always in good condition, and well woth a visit if in the are, certainly in wet periods as it is more likely to be dry underfoot than most

Course is in excellent condition considering the rubbish summer we have had.The greens were in great condition and much quicker than we were expecting, all in all a great course.

I am a member at Ashley Wood through the local military camp so have spent many an afternoon trudging along the fairways.
A tightly knit team run the club and there is a friendly atmosphere that welcome any visiting golfers.
Facility wise there is a cosy bar, and a short range/practice area, and a putting green.

The course is situated on higher land and has good drainage making the course playable year round, you will have a good examination of your game with a few side high lies as well as elevation changes on the first 5 holes, however should you hit an adequate drive they play fairly short which would be the reason that the club has a sizeable senior/lady community.
The greens are in great condition year round and you won't be aggrieved from holing a well struck putt as it rolls truely to the holes.

If only a slight negative, the latter addition of holes in "Ashley Wood" are a little shoe horned which gives some shorter holes which weave backwards and forwards so are a little unimaginative.

The final few holes play the hardest and can determine your scorecard for the round.
All in all a good course which through the winter months are pro active in improving course conditions with new astro turf paths, as well as new bunkering.

Lovely course

have to hit some blind shots on the front 9 but that makes the course so appealing

Course was in good condition following all the hot weather during the previous week.
Rained on the day we played but didnt spoil the round as short showers and very humid so helped cool you down slightly

Great views

Greens very difficult today, fast and with lots of undulations. Course in very good condition with some of the tee boxes very brown after three weeks of sun. Lovely course to have a round.
