Disappointing
I’ve played here twice over the past month. With a mid morning tee on a Sunday and a mid afternoon tee in the week. Had to queue at the 1st tee on both occasions with no one checking tee off times. Which appears to work on a first come first served basis even with booking times. Slow play and long waits on the tee spoil the golf experience, Most recently two people sharing one bag of clubs with one playing barefoot taking about 12 shots per hole with no invite to play through. I shall not play here again due to issues like this. The course itself is quiet well maintained.Reviewer Rating

Dreadful.
It used to be great here. The 9 hole course was a great short course that you could play in 90 minutes and the "championship" course was well managed and affordable. Having come back this weekend and paid £60(!) for two of us, I won't be going back. The tee boxes are a shambles. On two thirds of the holes you won't be able to find anywhere to stand level. The greens were okay, a handful were pretty scruffy but we've had some very hot dry weather. The worst thing at all - it was so so busy. They're either double selling tee times, or the tees are too close together. At one point we had 3 groups (10 golfers!) on the tee, and the group in front only just on the fairway. Every single golfer on the course was facing the same problem, and everyone I spoke to out on the course and in the bar afterwards said the same thing and complained about the fact it is simply way to busy.
It's clear Allerton Manor are more interested in their new bars and restaurants and have taken their eye off the golf course completely. So if its in a bad state, how can you justify allowing that many golfers to be teeing off so close together and then charging £30 a tee!?

Refund, or avoidance of.
The course is a good course I have no complaints with. However my complaint is with their refund policy. After cancelling a round of golf within the stated time limit to receive a refund, I was informed that I didn't request a refund at the time of cancellation. I cancelled the round online as I was unable do so over the phone due to no one answering. There is no facility to request a refund online so I couldn't have anyway, the club is neglectful of that.
I was treated very unsympathetic by the staff who just didn't want to know.
I was offered an alternative by way of a buggie (at £20 when my round cost £24), that was inappropriate as I was playing with three other players.
It left a bad taste and I won't be rushing back.

Mr
Played midday on Saturday and it took nearly 2 hours to play the first 4 holes, ended up walking off. Tee boxes are poor, course is not kept well when there is little rain but the biggest problem is of a weekend it is far too busy! I was a 1-ball so should be getting round fairly quickly and as I said it took nearly 2 hours to do 4 holes. Tee times need to be staggered better or somebody needs to be controlling when people tee off to ensure a flowing course. Weekend prices are far too expensive for the experience you get, £28 for a VERY frustrating 4 holes of golf!!Reviewer Rating

Disappointed
Pretty disappointed to be honest. The course has been neglected at the expense of the facilities ( which are excellent btw). The greens were poorly maintained , full of bobbles and bald patches and they don’t seem like they’ve seen a roller in a long time. The tees are even worse. If I’d paid for a membership here then I would have a long list of complaints. If it’s golf you’re after then give it a miss but the food and facilities are excellentReviewer Rating

Shocking price
what was once a decent muni has now become a shockingly priced poor course. No marshall to keep people to tee times and staggered starts, tee boxes are some of the worst you'll ever see and the greens aren't much better. £35 midweek to play here is taking the pi$$. Zero attention on the golf side of things with all the care and attention going on the bar (which to be fair is fantastic). Other local courses are a lot better for a much fairer price.Reviewer Rating

Terrible condition course
I have played allerton, almost all of my golfing life - I’m sad to say I am considering finding a new regular course. Greens are terrible, divots aren’t replaced and the pace of play is dreadful. It’s a shame because I have always thought the course has a nice layout and friendly staff. On top of that, the prices have hugely increased for a course in such poor condition.Reviewer Rating

After the course not having been played on for the first part of the year I thought the greens would have been in much better condition. Some greens where really, really poor. More effort needed of the golf course and less on food and drink.Reviewer Rating

I know they’re working on doing up the hotel etc but when golf your main draw more effort should be put into the course.

Terrible Customer Service
You now have to pay up front for your round. I booked an paid for a four ball, and one of the lads sprained his ankle at work the same day we were due to play, so couldn't join us. I thought Allerton would refund 1 green fee, seems as there were still 3 of us playing, or at least give me credit, but they just kept saying there was nothing they could do, and when I emailed to explain the situation and ask if they would reconsider, they haven't even had the decency to respond.Reviewer Rating

Ridiculously slow
With a morning t time, I was expecting to get off the course in around 4 hours. Instead I walked off the 12th green after 4 hours, after paying a handsome green fee. Unless your looking for the whole day out of the house, I would stay away.Reviewer Rating

Shocking course
This course is TERRIBLE. Everything about it. Pace of play tends to be the worst, for a kids length course I tend to walk off the 18th 6 hours after teeing off of the 1st. The staff are friendly most of the time but seem to be quite lazy. The owners are doing quite frankly an appalling job of changing the course. The course is always in terrible condition to its counterparts. Trust me when I say this because I am a member and after lockdown and my membership is up I can’t wait to turn my back away from this terrible terrible course. If your looking for a nice course, don’t play here!Reviewer Rating

Avoid at all costs
Joined as a member, no customer service, course in terrible condition, pitch marks everywhere, poor sand in bunkers (no rakes as well), no par 5s, never seen a greenkeeper, overpriced food and drinks, the whole thing is a money making scam. The people running it have clearly never been to or been a member of a decent course. Cant wait for my membership to expire. Was told i would receive £150 of vouchers to join, have asked for 5 months nothing yet. No membership card, just an awful awful experience. Havent been able to book a teetime at weekends since i joined, even in the week its crowded and lots of people just walking on the course. 7 minutes between tee times with randommers just joining after jumping through fence. Most par 4s are under 300 yards, back to back par 3s on the turn to make people wait and use the overpriced cafe. please please avoidReviewer Rating
