Course Of Two Halves

I was expecting a lot more after the bacon butty and coffee. The clubhouse and buildings are lovely, good putting green and practice nets. Looking down the first tee was good too. But then the course was just a bit scruffy to be honest. Tee boxes were shabby and it was almost impossible to get a flat lie to tee the ball up on most holes and they are quite narrow in the main. Front nine was quite disappointing in that regard and also the holes themselves, seemed to get better for course layout and enjoyment back nine but the tees were still a bit shabby. My other issue was the noise on the first and tenth tees. They are right by the putting green and terrace and on my back swing on the tenth there was chatter and then someone celebrating a holed putt on the putting green that is about 10 yards away so not ideal. Greens were good in the main with the exception of a couple that had me putting over a weed that appeared to have just been mown with the rest of the green, maybe removing them would be better?I know you can\'t please everyone and courses don't suit everyones' eye but there were just a few too many things to give this a positive rating really. I had heard some good things and was eager to play but it didn't live up to expectation.
Some really nice holes - 1st / 15th / 17th / 18th and a couple of shockers like the 3rd. Decent challenge though with a good deal of hazards and set up to make you think. \We were behind a comp and it was really slow, only had a two ball in front of us and they were really dragging their feet. Including at one point sheltering from the rain for 10 minutes and holding our whole society up. We had to wait on literally every tee and that can get a tad frustrating.

Aldersey Green played on 23/7/2015 on a dry day, a mixture of trees and water!!! Tee boxes were reasonably level and well presented but grass was way to long.Fairways are not well defined and the grass is to long, this may help some golfers but everything I hit simply jumped and flew a further 20 yards. Greens looked like they were diseased due to water saturation, I don\\\\\\\'t know if this course drains well but putting was very unpredictable and when hitting a high lob wedge, it was impossible to determine whether it was going to stop dead or roll out 10 yards. The course layout is very demanding as most holes are riddled with hazards. In fact, some holes I would say are insanely unplayable for amateur golf. To avoid a big score, you find yourself hitting mid irons off the tee which is not a bad thing but its hardly enjoyable.. This is not the golf courses fault, just bad timing, it took an amazing 5.30hrs for a two ball to get around with a buggy as it was full of 4 ball mixed seniors...HACK CITY!! I personally did not enjoy the course however, you may! At the end of the day, we paid £15.00 so for that price it was a fair deal and cant grumble. Its worth a go!

Scruffy front 9. Holes that were unfairly punishing. Bang average but could easily be improved. Back 9 a lot better than the front 9. Played OK too so not an issue there. I would play again if part of a society / invite but wouldn't recommend

Very good lay out. Some great hole. Fairways could be cut more. Friendly staff. Practice putting green and driving nets to warm up. Great value, paid £10 for 9holes on Sunday.

Very tough course, Almost unfairly so in parts. The risk/reward factor ebbs far too much to risk and you have little choice but to hit mid irons both off tees and to lay up. I shot 85 playing of 11 which I was thrilled with. Well looked after and very, very reasonable at £15.
