Played the course this afternoon we wanted to play 9 holes and was each charged £11.00.The pro approached us on the practice ground and said the £11.00 was for the day? On the approach to the second green we waited over 10 mins for the green keeper to mechanically brush the green. This happened again on the 4th green another 10min wait. We picked up on the 5th approach (again green keeper on the green) and also on the 7th green met him again picked up .Decided to play some more holes as we had paid for them. We let two sets of players tee off the 10 then when we were about to tee off we were bawled at by a member on the 1st tee saying that the rules were that 1st and 10th alternate even though they arrived on the tee some time after us. We then left the course\The pro offered us another game but we will not be returning.\

Played feb 2014. All winter greens and tees except for the first. Fairway shots had to be played off portable mats and despite this being the first course I've played to do this, you could see how good the fairways were looking. Really green as opposed to the mud bath that some courses are at the moment. Not a bad 9 holes will return in summer.

Enjoyable 9 hole course, friendly staff and course in pretty good condition overall. Not massively long but quite tight - playing the first time it'd be nice to know that the fifth is a dogleg right and that there's a stream in front of the green (there - you now know more than I did!) Overall an excellent way to spend £11 and a couple of hours.

Course was good and the greens were in good condition despite the scorching weather recently. Only down side was the direction to the next tee as a 1st time player there was no signs to direct you so got confused after pretty much every hole but overall a good days golf

I have just joined Alder root. This is a great course, and not easy!!! The greens are playing as good as any i have played on this summer. The course is looking well, and a lot of work during the last 12 months is starting to pay off. I pay £27.00 per month for a 5 day membership with no joining fee!!! Beat that!! Well worth a round here. Dont expect St. Andrews, but it is fantastic value for money and comes with a great little club house that does great food!!

Not a very well kept course, can be good with a lot of trees and it is quite long on a few of the holes, greens and fairways were poor.
10 Tees, 18 holes. There are better courses in the area for a better price.

Not the best of courses. Quite expensive for a basic 9 hole course and can get very crowded on the 1st tee. It did however host the very first RAGS (Rick Astley Golf Society) competition.

Very dissapointed with this course,it was like playing on an unpredictable trampoline the ball just bounced everywhere, the fairway grass was like hitting it from the rough and the normal rough was like very heavy rough.I wouldn't visit this course again and value for money was poor. There was no proffesionalism what so ever because as we went to the golf shop there was nobody in there to pay or to buy any goods from and as we were playing the management came on a golf buggy and collected our money from us and it took him 9 holes to come and give us our scorecards.there are a lot of other courses that are a hell of a lot better than this one for less.i wouldn't even visit it once if i were someone who hasn't played here before.

This course is an easy 9 hole course which uses different tee's to give an 18 hole course. It is virtually flat but it is fairly well established in it's features. It is a good little course for high handicappers with some fairly challenging holes for that level of golfer. The Green Keepers do an excellent job at keeping the course well looked after and in good condition. Well worth a visit at least once.
