I played the Falconwood a couple of days ago. I had actually played here earlier in the summer and at that point it was in reasonable condition and is a simple, but enjoyable challenge. Not so this time. To call the greens dry would constitute gross understatement on my behalf. My suspicions were aroused on the first when I hit a towering sand iron into the green which then bounced 20 feet in the air. At first I assumed i had hit a sprinkler head or a stone, on reaching the green however, it became apparent that this has not been the case. I use the term 'green' loosely, 'light brown' would be a more appropriate definition. Every single green on the course is barren. It is no exaggeration to say that not a single living blade of grass exists beyond the fringe. Not only is each green dead, they are also cracked and have the appearance of the grand canyon in miniature. These cracks, similar to tectonic plates seem to have pressed against each other and have formed large ridges which make putting impossible. Even the greenkeepers at Augusta National would be horrified at the speed the neglect of the course has these greens running at. Anything over a 3 inch back-swing with the short stick and you will send your ball running back off the green. One benefit is that the soil is so parched of water it has had a shrinking effect around the hole itself, making the diameter a solid inch wider than usual.

It is truly impossible to state how appalling the Falconwood is. I am convinced that the greens have not been watered once all summer. Even though cheap bookings are available online they are not worth it. The Falconwood is more likely to send you into a state of deep self loathing and depression than provide anything approaching an enjoyable round of golf.

Superb little course.

Falconwood is a relatively short course, but also testing. A great course for players who are starting out in the game. Greens are in good condition too.

Terrible condition

Really disappointed group of 8 of us visited and paid full fees. The course was completely waterlogged and not playable .Come on Crown Golf you can be a little more honest with your customers.Maybe we should have taken the hint as the car park was empty. We usually play here about 6 times a year but I don,t think that will be the case this year sorry not good enough.

The layout of the The Championship course is alright with some nice holes especially the 11th. However the greens were not in great health. Tough to make them good at this time of year but still, they were disappointing. The 17th tee was pure mud as well. £32 for a winter round seems steep especially when you can play the superior Selsdon just up the road
for £25.

Always a bubble on a Sunday before the Foot Golf posse take over at 12 noon, and why not, no room for snobs here. Greens are surprisingly difficult on some holes particularly the 7th Tee par 3. Land on the elevated Green over the pin if possible but then watch in horror as your girly Putt steam roles its way back toward the 8th Tee and wave goodbye to a once respectable score card!, bummer.

A good venue for mid-range pay and play golf. In good condition at the moment but tees could be more level and less chewed up.

Good value at £16 per person after 12, course in very good condition after the recent bad weather, greens were a mixed bag speed wise but again in very good condition, play was a little slow at times, my only other gripe is the very uneven ground on the tee boxes, good course to play for mid to high handicappers. Score 87 handicap 23

Muddy following a few days of rain, but fairways reasonable, however greens still in poor state. Short but interesting course.
