Great course
Society Day- Course was in great condition, recent wet weather did affect the greens which were challenging. Pro?s and Staff were accommodating and looked after us. 4 ball in front delayed us due to not ringing the bells on unsighted fairways.Reviewer Rating

Poor booking system & Overpriced - play twilight for best value
I personally feel for the condition of the course and facilities it's heavily overpriced - the online booking system hardly ever works for anything less than a 4-ball (and as a result missing out on the tee time you wanted), and you're in luck if you get someone at the pro-shop to answer the phone. When I got there, the staff were seemingly nonchalant about the booking system malfunction and recommended I ring next time, lol! To be fair I'm sure it's not within their remit of expertise to fix website issues (nor should it be) - but the system has been down for months now, so shrugging at a customer's frustration was offputting. I ended up going to the driving range only to find the price of a bucket has gone up by ?2 since I was last there (?9) and the auto-load bays have been replaced by standard rubber containers. Since then (two weeks ago) the price for a round has also gone up, yet I would still rather pay an ?18 twilight fee than ?9 for a bucket of balls. Somehow the math doesn't seem to add up.The course itself is in fair condition, and I find it a well laid out and challenging 18-holes. The greens could be better mid-season, but also in fair condition (in season).
My experience has been that before and after peak season the course is "let go" a bit, the fairways are quite thick, the contours of the rough expand so much that the course becomes way tighter and the greens inconsistent.
I play Bishop Stortford with my brother-in-law once a month, and at a ?25 visitors fee, I am astounded at the difference between these two courses and can't get my head around paying a full ?30 fee for the condition, facilities and service at Abbey Hill.
I live around the corner from the club and have been considering where I would join as a member - at this point, I'd rather drive another 10 miles out and join another club with fair prices and better service.

Frustratingly people jump in on the 11th as its right next to the clubhouse....
a good beginners course - very forgiving (although there are some challenging holes) - last 7 holes are pretty easy though. Greens are usually ok and its a pretty good winter course.....

Poor quality golf experience
Bearing in mind that Abbey Hill was a public golf course built in the 70's it has to be gauged against that criteria.Obviously MK Council in 1973 weren't going to build a golf course with greens of depth nor, tees with irrigation. Unfortunately the opening of the course coincided with the extra ordinately hot summer of 1976 where the lack of top soil opened cracked of 18" deep and 3/4" wide on the 3 fairway from which it never really prospered from such poor beginnings.
Today it's green (with lack of depth) are constantly tined don't provide a smooth putting surface. The original quite challenging 18 hole layout was redesigned to accommodate a driving range and pitch and put which reduced the original challenging 5th & 6th holes to poorly designed holes that offer nothing but frustration.
In all, Abbey Hill's prices don't reflect the course's mundanity, but when considered against Woburn's prices it does offer a way for some cheaper exercise.

Abbey Hill Golf Centre. A great family place
My son is just getting into golf, so travelled up to Milton Keynes and got him on his local course. Abbey Hill is an excellent course, with some challenging holes, but also offers others that gives you a chance on to make a good score. The course is split across two sides of a busy road, 10 holes one side, holes 1-10 across a bridge from the clubhouse and 8, 11-18 on the clubhouse side. An enjoyable course with good fairways and greens. There's a small kids adventure putting golf centre onsite. Facilities are good, with a driving range, good size putting area and a chipping area near the putting green. The proshop has all that you'd expect. The clubhouse is comfortable, and has a good selection of food and drink. All round, Abbey Hill is a good venue for golf and socializing.Reviewer Rating
