Played at the shire on the 18/10/18 on arrival the welcome was very friendly the four of us ordered the shire full English breakfast it arrived quickly and was cooked to perfection and a pretty good price
Out on the course we found it very interesting to play certainly not a course where you can just blast off the tee with the driver. The greens were having work carried out on them so difficult to comment on how they normally play but I wouldn’t mind questing that they get very fast overall every thing at the shire was presented very nicely all the staff were friendly and efficient I can’t comment on value for money as I fortunately didn’t pay
We all agreed that we would re visit next spring

An absolute must llay

What a golf course. Booked for my dad’s birthday and always wanted to play it. Made the journey and was absolutely worth it. Hospitality was excellent, the pro’s were helpful and even gave us a discounted rate which was brilliant. Food was good too. Golf course was fantastic: layout, condition, everything. Challenging but fair, fairways absolutely immaculate considering the weather this year has destroyed most golf courses. Greens slopey but fair. Every hole has a challenge and designed perfectly by the GOAT. Love the fact the clubhouse has pictures and memorabilia everywhere. Really is a special place. An absolute must play.

Have wanted to play The Shire for the past couple years after hearing nothing but good things & was not disappointed. The course was in excellent condition & definitely rewards the more adventurous Golfer!! The par 3 island green 1st is easily the hardest start to a round I've had & the other par 3's are up there with the best I've played. If you're in the area I'd definitely recommend trying for yourself.

Great Course

I play here a lot it's a great course! Lots of water, lots of fun. The staff are friendly and helpful. I would recommend it to anyone who likes a challenge.

In great condition.

Played here in March for the first time, so it's nice to come and play a second time when you know where your going. The course is currently as good as I could wish for,the greens are really superb. The tee boxes and fairways were impeccable and the rough,if you went really wide, was properly penal.
Not happy that the vending machine at what passes for a halfway house had no drinks in the hottest week of the year. I mean it's 32C and I was melting. Still, scored 21 points on the back nine, so maybe that's the trick!

A Delightful Challenge!

Played this course with a strong wind and intermittent showers but have to say I'd come back again! No easy holes, a thinkers course with water to the front of most par threes. Greens appear to have elephants buried under them. Great clubhouse facilities, put it on your list. My only criticism would be the driving range which is quite small with only a few bays.

Great Course

this is the 2nd time I have played this course and it just gets better. Although windy it was a very enjoyable day. The greens ran true and were some of the best I have played on. The unusual layout of 6 par 3s, 6 par 4s and 6 par 5s made for an interesting round. Lots of water if you strayed off line and a lot of thought needed of the tees.
