Challenging course and friendly club

Long, hilly course with challenging slopes and greens. Basic facilities but reasonably priced and extremely friendly

Ash Valley is a course I have played for the past 3 years. Being a new course (1994) it has come on very well, set in the rolling Hertfordshire countryside there isn't a boring hole in sight! The course condition is above average, what you would expect when paying such affordable green fees, the staff and members are always very welcoming and its perfect for those wanting a nice quiet round. Millionaires golf for under £20

having played here many times over the years, good to see the course receiving the TLC it deserves.the club has just had a relaunch and every effort is being made to improve the course with new bunkers, narrower fairways and tighter smaller greens to focus your game.very pleased with overall condition.

At first I thought it was a little uninteresting, but it grew on me as I went round. It's pretty open but the rough is nasty if you get too far offline and balls can be easily lost. Green fees are so low it's exceptional value.

THe course is very hilly and has no major hazards. which makes it easy for beginers. its easy to get a game with no one really pushing you or slowing you down.
the down side to the course is the clubhouse. if you finish your game to late then you will be dissapointed if you want a drink or snack. two times this year its been closed when we got back and it was still day light once at 3pm and again yesterday at 5pm

Golfshake Team ReviewLovely cousre very up and down in some places.......Club house is very basic.
Good value for money if your going for the twilight rate.

Still needs a bit of work here and there.

As others have said...this course is perfect for begineers.

if you are looking for a course to learn on, this could be the one for you. Wide fairways and long holes make it a challenge. The course hasn't changed much since it was set up, but there is now a clubhouse instead of the portacabin.

Very Open and course over rolling countryside, light rough can be very gripping when damp. Green is very good condition. The clubhouse is basic, but guests are made welcome

a challenge at any time of year

the layout of the course provides challenge from hole 1. the "no flat lie" is all around, combined with a wind direction which differs from one day to the next, gives each hole a different feel. there is nearly 4 course for each season of the year.

Gorgeous layout to the course and can be a real test once some fine tuning is made to bunkers, greens, tee’s and fairways! Reasonable value also

A BOG

Course should of been closed on Sunday 13th December as totally unplayable. Tee Boxes like a Pigs Pen, fairways a bog and greens had puddles to putt through. And, they charge you to play!!!

Perfect for the price

Generally well maintained (good to see the rough reduced a little so less lost balls and quicker rounds than previously - very sensible). Interesting and holds your attention. Really friendly staff. Excellent value for money.
