Really smart course in a great setting. Mostly large and forgiving fairways for a straight driver, but hilly, so always a challenging lie. Rough is proportionate. Greens well kept. Good mix of long holes and par 3s. Good little cafe with a decent beer fridge. Would play again for sure.

a challenge at any time of year
the layout of the course provides challenge from hole 1. the "no flat lie" is all around, combined with a wind direction which differs from one day to the next, gives each hole a different feel. there is nearly 4 course for each season of the year.Reviewer Rating

Ash Valley is a course I have played for the past 3 years. Being a new course (1994) it has come on very well, set in the rolling Hertfordshire countryside there isn't a boring hole in sight! The course condition is above average, what you would expect when paying such affordable green fees, the staff and members are always very welcoming and its perfect for those wanting a nice quiet round. Millionaires golf for under £20

A lovely course, quiet and peacefully set in rolling countryside. Reasonably long and some challenging greens reasonably true. Can't expect perfect maintenance for the price but exceptional value and never crowded. Quaint friendly clubhouse with a homely feel and sunny seats.

At first I thought it was a little uninteresting, but it grew on me as I went round. It's pretty open but the rough is nasty if you get too far offline and balls can be easily lost. Green fees are so low it's exceptional value.

New home
Joined as fareway after leaving another club who standards are dropping. Lovely little practice course which offers good distances. Main course a challenge but a nice challenge long hilly but fun . Greens in great condition just a bit fast at the moment. All in all good value for money here especially the food and service in the clubhouse is great made us feel so welcome.Reviewer Rating

Unpretentious.
A throwback to the 1930s and that suits me nicely. A long and physically demanding course - oxygen or a buggy may be needed on the second hole (SI1). Wide fairways, but if you enter the long rough in the summer you had better take a packed lunch as you may be there for a long time!
