Great course

We decided to look for somewhere new. The Surrey National was suggested and we were not disappointed. 18 holes with great variety and set in some beautiful countryside. The tees, fairways and greens were in excellent condition, particularly as this was the middle of February. There is plenty of parking and an attractive bar with friendly staff. The only issue to point out is its a hilly course. If you are fit, its fine and the slopes add interest to the holes. Some of the trolley paths are also rough - and steep, including getting into the clubhouse!

Two hours and forty minutes to play 9 holes teeing off at 11:36 on a Friday.

Three hours and ten minutes to play 11 holes. At that point, we gave up, as we didn’t want to be any further from the club house and the holes in front of us were backed up.

We put a call into the clubhouse on the 8th, but the situation got worse after that. ‘A society’ the excuse - come on.

It doesn’t take five hours to play a round of golf, if the tee times were properly spaced out and the course marshalled.

Had a nightmare here before on a Saturday & will avoid in the future.

I did raise this with the club shop afterwards and their kind offer was a voucher for 18 holes anytime midweek for…..the next month. Thanks but no thanks

Fabulous track

Great layout and condition of course considering the rain we have had well drained, and Greens in super shape bit of a tough walk though some of those hills not for the faint hearted will love to go back in the summer

Course was not too busy during afternoon round, greens in excellent condition. This is course is very hilly and keeps you fit just walking round. Clubhouse clean and tidy and people every helpful.

Horrible members

Nice course and good price. Few of the members were a pain and spoiled the day.
A few high fives to celebrate a 20ft birdie putt were apparently too loud and caused a member who was about 100 yards away to start shouting at us to be quiet. Dont think he realised how ironic this was.
Other members were cutting across holes, pushing in front at the bar too.
In all the members are trolls.

Very Frustrating

The course was so dry it was impossible to keep the ball on the fairway no matter where you hit it. We have had very hot weather of course so not much they could do about that. Not many flat fairways but we enjoyed the round. Would be so much better with some grass on the fairways. The greens had been recently cored so hard to put and lots of sand.

Fairly expensive and almost impossible to play when its so dry as the slopes are very steep and ball just rolls all the way down

Long parkland course

Enjoyable layout with intelligent bunker positions. Played in the summer so the ball rolled a long way, often downhill away from where you wanted. So strategy off the tee was very important. The greens were in very great condition and even paced. Good clubhouse and friendly staff. Paid £35 which was fair value. One petty point; avoid the coffee, £2.50 for tiny mug of sludge. Ignoring that we'll be back.

Challenging across the board

Surrey National is a long sloping course that even the fittest would find hard work. The first hole gives you a flavour of what to expect. A straight hole sloping right to left means a less than accurate shot shoots you off onto the fairway of the 2nd just from the roll away. Undulating greens make less than 2 putts hard and unseen hazards make ball loss likely. It's one to try if you need more challenge, but for the high handicapper expect a tough day.

Played in mid winter so was freezing in the valley but the course was well maintained, especially in winter with very little mud, good fairways and greens

Nice course set within two valleys and has a well balanced layout.
Great for the average player.
Course conditions ok as it’s winter and the greens were punched.
Looking forward to going back in the summer.
