Played the Ild Course for the first time. Friendly welcome in the pro shop and also from the starter. The course was in superb condition with some excellent holes. Well worth a visit.

Having played the Mathern course a couple of times this was my first outing on to the Old course. I had heard good things from my playing partners (one a member) and was looking forward to this. On my way to the first tee tragedy struck as my dodgy trolley wheel gave up the ghost and left me facing the prospect of lugging my tour bag around all day. As I resigned myself to my arduous afternoon I was approached by a member of the green keeping staff in a buggy. He told me that he could fix the trolley. I told him it was a fairly old trolley and I was reluctant to spend money on fixing it. The green keeper, whose name I later found out to be Sean, said there would be no charge even if they had to replace parts. He whisked it away returning with it before I had even played my third shot and had even filled my water bottle for me.
While I didn't play particularly well the course is meticulously maintained and the views, especially from the back nine, are breathtaking. I had been put off this facility by reports of exorbitant prices and blatant snobbery. This in my opinion is totally unjustified and have played worse courses for significantly more money. My only regret is not taking driver on the signature 18th. I will next time as I will definitely be back, possibly as a member.

Played the 2 courses last weekend (21st june). The old course was fantastic, the 1st and 8th greens (I think) have just been re laid, possibly due to holding the trilby tour finals later in the year, so played pretty slow but the other greens were in fantastic condition and extremely fast. Probably the fastest I have played this year. Whole course in great condition, thoroughly enjoyed. The Mathern was the complete opposite, tee boxes looked like they hadn't been cut for a week and greens quite bobbly, shame they have let it go but even so there was some challenging holes and still enjoyed the round

An excellent course where straight play is essential, anything off the fairways and the rough just likes to keep hold of it like glue. Very friendly staff and made to feel very welcome.

Thoroughly enjoyable afternoons golf, bacon rolls on arrival were more like gammon steaks, staff were friendly and helpful, the facilities were very good as expected. The course was in good condition despite the greens having been top dressed, looking forward to the next visit if only to try the 236yd par 3 18th again!

great course in great condition when playing last thursday, although the course was busy it moved along at a nice speed found the greens hard to read with plenty of borrows and happy with a few 3 putts,a must play if in the area
