More of a building site than a golf course now. Earth mounds everywhere, trees cut down. Tees and greens uneven with very patchy grass. Lots of water features added but God only knows what is in some of them. The liquid in some is a very weird colour and I certainly wouldn't attempt to retrieve a ball from that stuff. Some changes were to be expected when the change of ownership occurred but this is now years later and the course is a shambles but the green fees have actually increased! Whoever is responsible for the changes seems to believe that covering every fairway with as many bunkers as possible makes a good course but I'm afraid I don't agree. This used to be one of the best municipals in all of Merseyside. Sure the drainage needed improving but the never ending building work has ruined this course and I will not play here again.

i would like to say how well Kirkby vally stud up to the ex-stream rain we have had lately , i played in the rain and it was very enjoyable and very playable , it is a real testament to the hard work and investment by all the ground staff and management .thank youReviewer Rating

Dry
Went to our private course and it was waterlogged and closed on Sunday .We Took a chance and went to Kirkby got on quite easy it was raining but we got a full round in
Greens and tees were dry ., some soft spots in rough but fairways dry .
Members told us that a lot of time been spent on drainage it’s paying off
Greens were superb
Will be making regular visits and cheap as chips , might get 5 day membership .

Played with our society on Tuesday course was fantastic,Greens very fast for this time of year tees in fab condition and fairways dry as a bone. Alterations makes this on par with the best private’s , I will be joining in March.Reviewer Rating

Excellent Value
Kirkby Valley was a pleasure to play. We were lucky to have the weather on our side too. There is a lot of work going on around the course, but this doesn't affect your game, apart from a few areas of "Ground under Repair". The course itself is a nice variety of holes, with some very challenging Par 4's, some lovely little Par 3's, and a couple of long Par 5's. It's a well kept course also, very nice greens, and well maintained fairways and roughs.For ?20 a round, I would say it's probably the best value course I've played in a long while.

Great Condition
Played yesterday and the course was in fantastic condition. Green especially in great condition. I can see there has been a lot of investment in the course and its noticeable. Great muni course brilliant valve for money plays really well. Really easy to get to straight of the motorway. Very friendly helpful staff. Will be going back again.

Played with our society onSunday breakfast fantastic,course best I've seen it fantastic ,Greens true and not too fast fantastic. Top it off Micky Thomas was playing and gave me a souvenir .brilliant pint in bar with pie and chips peas .great day had by all.keep it up Greenkeepers and don't forget to construct steps on new tees!!!!

Lovely course
Play here a couple of times a year and it never disappoints. Great value for money and atmosphere. Very tidy and forgiving for the lesser experienced golfer. Recommend it to anyone.Reviewer Rating

Course looking betted everytime ive played. The improvements with the bunkers are very good. Enjoy playing Kirkby, it will get betted as the warmer weather comes in. Greens could be slightly better thòugh.
