Great Course

Nice track
Played the course in June. Nice start, first four holes are good but nothing to write home about and then it just gets better and better. Played with my son in law to be and both of us thought the course was great. Par three's are very challenging. The locals all seemed friendly, nice pint, great day. We will returnReviewer Rating

Well worth a visit.
A challenging, attractive course that needs to be played twice - the second time to place the ball more sensibly!Bar staff are very friendly and accommodating.

We played this course for the first time as part of a reciprocal arrangement with our home club. There was an initial concern as all the greens were white with a sand dressing but we need not have worried as all were very quick and a credit to the green keepers. We were a bit disappointed there were no course planners available but the hole maps on each tee sorted out the trap positions. There was a stiff breeze which added to the challenge but the first few holes were not too taxing and eased you in nicely. There is plenty of well kept sand so make sure you brush up on your bunker play. The 9th is a real test (how many par 3s are index 3) and this sets you up for the second loop which starts at the twelfth. The next six holes are just lovely and azaleas and rhododendrons abound, a bit like Amen Corner without the water. If you like elevated tees and sweeping fairways this will be right up you alley. Add to that a great steak and kidney pie and a warm welcome from the clubhouse staff, a very good day out.

Very nice welcome on arrival. First time at Sherborne and like others had heard both good and bad about the course. I have to say that after the first four holes, which appeared to be a relatively new addition, the remainder of the course was a delight. We played on 'seniors' morning and it was a bit slow but were able to take our time to take in the great views from many parts of the course. All members we met were very friendly and a couple even apologised for holding us up. The course was in immaculate condition, with very true and well cut greens. Couldn't find a weed on any of the fairways.
All in all, a course well worth travelling to play and I would certainly do the 80 mile round trip to play there again.

First time I have played this course and it is really fantastic! I have read alot of negative reviews about this course but I cant see what people are talking about. The front 9 are fairly straight forward but as you move to the back 9 it is fairly challenging with some long awkward holes. As the club says on the website, the par 3 holes are a nice challenge! The visitor rate is quite steep which is the club's downfall.

nice view and varied course. on a few temps in the winter but few courses open so probably drains better than most. back 9 better than front.
