This is a super course
First played the day before Boris locked us down in 2020. It was very very wet and the course was shortened a lot but I could see it was worth a revisit. So delighted we did return in August when it was dry. The wind blew a hooley but that added to the fun.I visit a lot of courses and tend to judge them on whether it has unique holes that you'll remember and talk about post round. The Codrington has a handful!
Water plays a really big part of the topography at the Players with many water hazards framed by the US style wooden edges (think Sawgrass). They look amazing!
My favourites are the hugely difficult par 4 third (LOVE this hole) which is SI 3 - teeing off to
narrow fairway and water to the left...amazed it isn't SI 1!; the par 5 fifth with an amazing grass heather lined bunker 50 yards short of the green; the par 3 10th; the par 5 12th has a fabulous green. But the highlight of the course is the par 5 15th and par 3 16th. This is just majestic. I challenge you not to reach for your camera phone. These are 2 of the best holes in England.
I'll be bringing our golf society here soon and the fact there are around 10 brand new accommodation rooms now built I'll be organising a lads weekend here especially as Batch/Bristol are not too far.
I'll be back soon.
90 mins from the midlands, just 5 mins off Jn18 of the M4 (near Bath)

Positives; course in superb condition, staff and members very friendly.
Negatives; signage appalling, especially when trying to find the next tee. Also no benches which are needed if you have to wait on every tee! ( I am assuming they have not been removed for Covid reasons).

One of the best!
Have played over 80 courses in England, and this is right up there with the best, despite the recent bad weather the course was in fantastic condition, a beautiful sunny day showed the course in it,s full glory, greens, fairways , tee boxes immaculate, great variety of holes with lots of ponds and lakes, A very pretty course and you stand on some of the tees and think wow! Not the cheapest to play but well worth it, and worth every penny.(Round played: May 2021 - Score: 91 Handicap: 16.2)

For a mid November round the course is in excellent condition, especially the greens. I would say that they are probably the best greens I've played on in the last 2 years. Some difficult par 4's but also some easy ones so there is a mixture for both low, mid and high handicappers.
Would i go back.....most definitely and cant wait. Great value for money at 33, coffee, range balls (in the summer you get to play the 9 hole par 3 course) and lunch. Everybody was so helpful and friendly.

Still pretty wet in places but otherwise holding up well, greens good and as ever its a real challenge especially off the back tees ( where most of the mats were !) , plenty of well placed lakes and all holes are different.Reviewer Rating

Too busy
We drove up from Swansea as a group. Played Saturday om Codrington and Sunday Stranahan. Saturday was chaos, so many people, it was bedlam. The tee off times were no adhered to, so that resulted in a 30 minute wait at the Tee on , which wasnt a great start. Poor signage meant that we often ended up on the wrong hole and even struggled to find the first tee. Sunday was qieter, but still it felt crowded andballs crossing from other courses. I have never heard "FORE" shouted so much. Also, the bunkers were terrible. However, the courses were in goo d condition given the foot fall, it was the bunkers that need sand .Reviewer Rating

Fine challenging course.
Challenging course. Good condition. Well worth visiting. A few blind drives so signage at the tee box indicating the layout of the hole would be helpful.Reviewer Rating

Testing set up
Played here as part of a charity golf day. A testing set up with quick greens and plenty of hazards and unforgiving rough. However, course was in great conditions, fairways were running which meant it was possible to score well. Thoroughly recommend a visitReviewer Rating

Golf Week 2022
Played the Codrington course, very good layout, greens in good shape and an interesting layout. the downside even tho booked in April we found ourselves unpaired in he pairs comp. So an 90 min front 9 turned into a 5hr round and a slow death.Practice facilities are good, range balls are 15 years old and totally useless other than a warm up. £30 was a fair price in my view. having played Minchinhampton the day after for £27.50 which is far superior in every way. pro wasn't over helpful before or on the day.
2 comps on the day, zero welcome zero feel for visitors really. totally disappointed with the visit. wasted a day off.
