One of Northumberland's finest venues offering added value for golfers

By: Golf Shake | Tue 03 Nov 2015

One of the England’s best-known golfing venues, Slaley Hall has long been a must-play venue for golf fans across the UK and the leading resort in Northumberland is offering increased membership value over the coming months thanks to an exciting addition to its QFairway membership scheme.

Players signing up to the membership initiative at Slaley Hall – part of QHotels, the UK’s largest golf resort operator – can now enjoy full access to the resort’s famous Hunting Course as well as experiencing the full benefits of playing its sister layout, the Priestman layout.

Slaley Hall

Often dubbed ‘The Augusta of the North’, the 7,000-yard, par-72 Hunting Course, which was designed by Dave Thomas, features lush sweeping fairways, streams, lakes, towering trees and banks of rhododendrons – and has regularly hosted tournaments on the main European and European Seniors Tours.

Slaley Hall, in Hexham, has been overwhelmed by the interest shown in QFairway – the country’s most flexible membership offering up to 50 rounds of golf for only £375 along with access to QHotels’ ten other outstanding golfing venues – since its launch in the spring and is expecting a similar response following the latest announcement.

With the flexible points-based QFairway membership, golfers can enjoy all the benefits of a full club membership – including the facility to hold a handicap and playing rights for club competitions – while offering discount on food and drink, shop purchases, tuition, hotel bed-and-breakfast rates.

The forward-thinking initiative is equally as attractive to juniors, with children aged 15 and under receiving a free membership when they sign up, providing their parent or guardian also has an adult membership at the same time.

Slaley Hall’s head of golf, Jeff Mills, said: “We have received a phenomenal response to QFairway since its launch from players of all ages and are very excited about the benefits that adding the Hunting Course to the scheme will bring.

“Its inclusion means there has never been a better time for golfers to be a member at Slaley Hall, and be a part of the most widely beneficial membership in the UK.”

The Hunting Course’s inclusion in Slaley Hall’s QFairway club brings to an end a memorable year for the resort which has seen it celebrate its 25th anniversary.

Other notable achievements for the venue in 2015 have included new member Pam Jackson winning a weekend golf break after becoming the 1,000th golfer nationwide to join QFairway and Steve Fawcitt, the resort’s head teaching professional, celebrating the biggest win of his career after taking victory at September’s 2015 North East/North West PGA Matchplay Championship.

The AA Hotel Group of the Year, the multi-award-winning, four-star QHotels group offers championship-standard courses in unique resort locations – and now also provides the perfect membership package for all golfers.

Set in 1,000 acres of Northumberland moorland and forest, Slaley Hall is a magnificent four-star hotel in an elegant Edwardian mansion.  It has two challenging championship courses – the Hunting and the Priestman – which have played host to no fewer than 18 European Tour and European Senior Tour events.
