Astbury Hall Announce Golf Membership Programme

By: | Fri 14 Jan 2011

Stunning golf course designed by Judas Priest lead guitarist offers individual and corporate opportunities

Press Release -  Troon Golf®, the leader in upscale golf course management, development and marketing is delighted to announce the inaugural membership opportunities at Astbury Hall, www.astburyhall.co.uk an 18 hole championship golf course hidden in the beautiful surrounds of the Shropshire countryside. Designed and created by golf enthusiast and talented course designer Kenneth Downing - renowned for his position as Judas Priest’s lead guitarist, Astbury Hall has captured the imagination of the public with the uniqueness of its owner, and its distinctive design.

With its special history, Astbury Hall is one of the most refreshing new golf developments in the UK, boasting superb championship conditioning and a spectacular stately home overlooking the golf course. The Georgian building has been transformed into a breathtaking clubhouse, from what was once Downing’s own residence. Offering a mixture of challenging holes and stunning views of the rolling hills - synonymous with the English countryside; the course’s signature hole is the par-3 18th - one of the most exciting finishing holes in UK golf. Measuring 200 yards from the championship tees, the hole is played across water to a tricky green, with bunkers left and right, testing both nerve and ability.

“Designing this golf course has been an extremely fulfilling experience and one that I am very proud of. I am excited to launch our membership programme and look forward to welcoming them to Astbury Hall,” commented KK Downing.

Now offering two types of Annual Golf Membership - individual and corporate, Astbury Hall aims to attract golfers from not only the surroundings area but the popular golfing region of the Midlands. The annual fee applies from April 1st 2011 to March 31st 2012, when the club fully opens with a host of on-site amenities including bar, restaurant and changing room facilities.

'It’s an exciting new golf course with a history unlike any other. Ken (Downing) has done a phenomenal job in creating a very special property and we expect memberships to attract significant interest from golfers in the region and for some, even further afield,' commented Bruce Glasco Managing Director, Troon Golf Europe, Middle East and Africa.
