The collection of golf courses situated in the UK would keep even the most ardent of golfer occupied throughout their lifetime. Venues such as Royal St George’s, The Belfry, St Andrews, Carnoustie, Wentworth and Royal Portrush are ranked among the very best in the world.

However, there are occasions where we fancy a slightly different test, which typically includes warmer weather to ensure we can complete our round in shorts! Scattered across Europe is a fine assortment of golf courses that should be experienced by serious golfers, each offering something different. Thanks to our friends at Golfbreaks, we have selected four European resorts that you should visit during your career as an amateur golfer.

La Cala Golf Resort

La Cala Golf Resort

Situated in the Costa del Sol in Spain lies La Cala Golf Resort, a fantastic venue that would reflect a golfer’s paradise. From an accommodation perspective, there are plenty of rooms with 107 on offer. There is also plenty of activity happening on the resort, which will keep you and your party occupied after time spent on the golf course.

La Cala’s reputation is fantastic and often regarded as one of the finest resorts to reside in Spain. There are three golf courses present on site - America, Asia and Europa - all of which contain plenty of excitement and danger throughout. Amendoeira Golf Resort

Amendoeira Resort

We travel to Portugal and there is plenty of activity at the Amendoeira Golf Resort. The resort is situated in the Algarve and hidden away amongst the beautiful Monchinque Mountains. There is a mixture of villas and modern apartments available for renting, and the resort is located just a short drive away from the south coast.

The Faldo and O’Connor are the two courses attached to the resort and they are two of the most prestigious in the Algarve. The Faldo requires players to plot their way around; positioning the golf ball is the order of the day. The O’Connor, on the other hand, complements the premium course and rests in a fertile valley that features plentiful water hazards that will test every golfer regardless of ability.

Le Touquet Golf

The facility is located only five minutes from the town of Le Touquet and it acts as a perfect base if you’re looking for a weekend golfing getaway in France. Accommodation for the resort is found at the Le Manoir Hotel, which is a three-star offering that comprises of 41 bedrooms, a bar and a classy restaurant.

The two golf courses on site are often regarded as the best in Northern France, meaning this is an ideal and highly recommended area of France for golf-related travel. La Mer was built in 1931 by Harry Colt, an esteemed golfing figure, and it has played host to plenty of professional tournament - most notably the French Open. La Foret is the alternative routing, and it offers a picturesque setting. Sueno Hotels Golf Belek

Sueno Hotels Belek

Turkey has experienced a surge of popularity from European golfers, with the warm climate and fine collection of golf courses acting as the perfect hub. The Sueno Golf Hotel is situated in the heart of Belek and the 5* resort will contain everything you would need during your stay. Evidently, the resort was created from a golfer’s perspective, as the journey from your room to the first tee is less than five minutes!

With two courses to choose from - both dipped in high quality - there really is little need to leave the resort. The Dunes Course features a marvellous design and it isn’t overly long in length, highlighted by its par of 69. There are island greens and waste bunkers to negotiate, whilst the picturesque vistas will leave you in awe. The Pines is another fantastic layout that will leave any golfer smiling throughout the entire round. Again, there are numerous island greens to contend with, but the general presentation of the course is truly remarkable.
