by James Roebuck on 13th April 2011Hi Darren, the first thing i noticed in this video was your grip which is a key element to any golfers swing, your left hand grip is too week and your right hand scooped under, hold the club up infront of you and place the club from the first crease on your first finger to the last crease on your pinky allowing the club to sit on the pad of your hand NOT in the palm, then place your right hand on the club the V between your finger and thumb should run paralell on both hands, a good practice for this is to place a tee betwwen both Vs (cut of the points) these should both face the same angle, also push your hands slightly infront of the clubhead at address and on impact this will get you hitting down on the ball allowing the loft of the club to do the work, don't try to scoop at the ball to get it in the air the loft will do that, scooping your hands will normaly cause you to hit it thin.

by Kevin Watson on 14th January 2011Darren, a small point on any advice you recive. Don't try to change any more than 3 points. If the change does't work forget it. Give yourself a goal on the range don't just aimlessly hit balls. Don't ask for advice whilst on the course it could mess up your round.

Fundimentals, I normally practice in the footware I will play in. Slow your back swing try saying to yourself 'strawberry blond' throughuot the swing tempo is important. At the end of your swing try to relax the wrists and arms allowing the club to naturally hang down your back.
Third point more weight on the outside of your lft foot this will help stop your foot rotating.

by Steven Guard on 22nd August 2009your feet move too much, your hips are sliding not rotating. the right knee needs to drive forward as you impact and your whole body is moving throughout therefore giving a poor spine angle and no axis to rotate around. you are also standing too close to the ball if you watch in slow motion your shoulders hunch at impact so you are trying too give yourself room thats not there(note how your left arm is bent just after impact) by the way slow the whole thing down watched at full speed it takes less than 1 second start to finish your complete swing.stop going to the range and hitting loads of balls get a big mirror at home build a solid base with your feet and legs(try to copy ernie els posture) work on your spine angle and rotation all in front of that big mirror i mentioned sorry by theway for the bullying but i have just been rebuilt myself i have just tracked my first score in months after undergoing the transformation and you would not believe the difference sorry again but get some footage of ernie and you wont go wrong cheers

by Matt Willis on 8th June 2008i agree about the dress code mate nah only kidding
its your left foot thats moving on your down swing also your head comes up too fast causing you weight to shift awkwardly but improve that and you'll be getting birdies in no time keep it up

by Heber Ferraz-leite on 4th April 2008Your feet move when your downswing begins. This suggests to me you are probably starting too fast. Try to start the downswing slow and accelerate, as opposed to making a sudden quick start.

by Adrian Fautley on 25th February 2008try not to bring the club to far back on your back swing and try to slow down whilst on practise to feel where that club head is,stand on the base of the feet which will give you more balance

by Simon Elliott on 19th February 2008having looked again.. one more thing!!
try and impact DOWN on the ball rather than scooping which seems to be an issue, again probably affecting the strike? do this by transferring your weight through the ball to your left side before impact.
try practicing this by moving ball back in the stance slightly and being aggressive in your swing try to hit the back of the ball rather than the underneath of it!
sorry for sounding like a 'swing bully' but trust me we have all been there!!Overall rating
by Simon Elliott on 19th February 2008darren,
your swing on the way back is much too quick... try slowing this down and will definitely help your strike - i am guessing your strike is often fat or thin. 1/4 pace on way back and accelerate through impact.. find a rhythm.
also your body sways with your swing... you need to have a stable core to swing from so you swing back and around your right hip, not swaying back and then through. on the way down try and transfer the weight to the left leg and keep it firm.
i know that sounds alot but try working on one thing at a time and then put it all together.Overall rating
by Lionel Hammond on 11th February 2008I'm no pro but to me your swing looks ok, What stands out to me watching your video is your weight transfer could be better,I think you need to work on getting a more stable base and working on this may help. But like i said i'm no pro.
