Course review : The Nottinghamshire Golf & Country Club
by Terry Statham on 21st February 2011Played here on 14.02.11. ( Open Course) The course was not in good condition with pitch marks all over a lot of the greens. Also they have taken away the whole of the hedgerow on the 8th/9th hole.
I always look forward to playing here but will no longer travel the short distance to play here. We were charged £40 a round on a Monday. It is well over priced.
The restaurant is very expensive but the pub next down serves great food at a price to suit everyoneThe Course

by Terry Statham on 22nd November 2010Great course with excellent facilites. I have played here lots of times and it is a great test of golf.
The thing what let this down last time is we teed off 10.08 behind the "Monday Club". This group have a block booking and a round lasts about 5 hours. Its also a shame that some of these people dont rake the bunkers or repair pitch marks. The Course

Course review : Springwater Golf Club
by Terry Statham on 11th May 2010This course is a hidden gem. A very friendly welcome and a very tidy place starts the day off well. The course is well maintained with only the odd wobbly tee box. Fairways in great condition, as were the greens apart from the odd pitch mark left by stupid people, who call themselves golfers. The layout is superb although may be a bit hilly for some but nothing to strenuous.
The only thing to let this place down was the fact that the clubhouse doesn't accept credit/debit cards. I found this out after my pint was poured and food on order.
Will play again without a doubt, with cash in my back pocket this time. The Course

Course review : Oakmere Park Golf Club
by Terry Statham on 22nd March 2010Looks great. Nice long driving range. Pro shop small and cramped. The course is in great condition. Nice views and very quiet. Some good long holes. fast greens. Bunkers need some work but we have just come out of the winter months. Club house is good also, with a fair sized conservatory.

by Terry Statham on 15th March 2010Value for money £15. The pro shop are helpful to start with. The course is in fantastic condition and has a great layout. The greens are immaculate. the staff in the clubhouse are very friendly, and the prices are more than reasonable.
This is one course I will be more than happy to revisit many times.

Course review : Bulwell Forest Golf Club
by Terry Statham on 9th March 2010The course is set between 2 rough housing estates. The told us they had problems with locals using the course to walk their dogs. One nicked my ball. WATCH OUT FOR THE DOG MESS.
The greens were in great condition.
No rakes in bunkers, but plenty of stones.
The course gets very compact with 4 holes sort of moulding in to one at one point. A short course but could have potential if there was a way of keeping non golfers off the course.
Staff in clubhouse were very friendly.
Ok in winter if desperate but not a warm day course because of the local kids.
I will not play again if it can be helped. The Course

by Terry Statham on 16th February 2010Played this course a couple of times through this spell of awful weather and the course and greens are in excellent condition. The greens are better here than most courses are in summer. Green keepers who turn off equipment while you take your shot is not what you find at most courses, but here it seems the norm.
The only bad thing about Cotgrave Place is the prices in the club house. The pub next door is the ideal place, having a full roast for under £4.The Course

Course review : Styrrup Hall Golf and Country Club
by Terry Statham on 20th October 2009I had passed this course many times and it looks great. I played it Monday for the first time and was not disappointed.
The Pro shop is not the best with a very small range of products.
The driving range was quite good at 250yds, although the range balls were like a throw back from the early 80's.
The course itself is nicely shaped and has a par 5 664yrd off yellow (712yds off white). In a good few years when all the trees have started to mature a little, each fairway will be more defined as at the moment it is quite open. The bunker vary in size and depth which is great, with proper pot bunkers at the side of a few greens. The greens weren't bad for the damp weather we have had.
The bar restaurant is quite big and very clean, overlooking over the 18th green. Food was well priced and backed up with great service. Also a great pint of Guinness can be had.
I will play this course again that is for sure, at £18 its a bargainThe Course

Course review : Ormonde Fields Golf Club
by Terry Statham on 14th September 2009The course is a hidden gem. It looks professional from the entrance to the exit. The pro shop is small but has some great bargains and has what you need.
The course itself is cracking. The layout is superb. It is slightly tight and a little hilly. The greens are very good.
The clubhouse is very old in style but has good beer and great food at brilliant prices.
An excellent day out.The Course

by Terry Statham on 8th September 2009Cracking course already and more improvements underway. Greens are fantastic. The rough is punishing, just how it should be.
Staff and members are nice and friendly.
BAD POINT: The prices in the clubhouse are well over the top. (My advise is play the course and then into the pub next door). The Course

Course review : Rufford Park Golf & Country Club
by Terry Statham on 17th August 2009Nice welcome to course from members and staff. The layout of the course is excellent. The bunkers didn't have enough sand in and the greens had been spiked. The fairways are superb.
The really one thing at this course like many, is the fact that idiots do not repair pitch marks.
The clubhouse has great food at good prices, and the beer is good also.

Course review : Willow Valley Golf Club
by Terry Statham on 4th August 2009This course is over rated. I played there on Monday in a competition and it was not the best. The staff where not very welcoming apart from the lady who was serving the bacon butties.
The course itself need some attention, for example the fairways needed cutting as they were like the first cut of rough in parts. The greens had loads of pitch marks on them (which I appreciate is stupid, lazy players who can't be bother to have the decency to repair them).
The course could also do with some better signs displaying the direction to the next tee as some tees are a bit of a walk and not always obvious as to their whereabouts.
If these things were sorted out this would be an excellent, very challenging course. It is tight and has plenty of bunkers and water. The Course

by Terry Statham on 27th July 2009I have played this course a few times now and it is always in great shape. You get a nice welcome in the pro shop.
Today Lee Westwood was there showing the youngsters how to play. We had to wait while he landed as the heli-pad is a bit close to the 12th tee. (Not really a complaint).
This has to be one of the best value rounds of golf you can get.
The service in the bar is excellent also, very quick and polite staff. Food comes quickly when ordered.
I wish all courses were of this standard. The Course

Course review : Tapton Park Golf Club
by Terry Statham on 20th July 2009A good improvement on the last round here. The pro shop is very small but does have a few bargains in there. A good practice green but no driving range or nets to warm up in. You get your card, which does not have distances from yellow tees on it. Another course without a course planner. (It should be a law that a course planner is available). Not enough sand in the bunkers still. (Also bunkers full of stones). Greens were in great condition.

Course review : Chilwell Manor Golf Club
by Terry Statham on 13th July 2009The members of this club are very inviting. The pro shop has the essentials. The course is in great condition. Some holes are very forgiving, while others are very tight. Good variety of holes.
I was very disappointed by the fact that you had too pay with cash to play. We were not told this when we booked. I would of thought that now days every club would have a card machine. We were also told that it is cash only in the bar, so we went across the road to a pub called the Bee-keeper.
The price of £25.50 is fair as this includes insurance, so mishaps are covered.
Will play again, but will have to ensure cash in my wallet. The Course

Course review : Ruddington Grange Golf Club
by Terry Statham on 12th July 2009The course has a great layout and is set in nice quiet surroundings. From tee to green the course is in great shape. I loved the fact that they keep the grass shortish between the trees, so you don't need an endless supply of balls every time one strays. Greens were a lot faster than they looked, but you could hold them from distance, which I like.
If this was £20 a round it would become a regular spot for me. I say £20 because Morley Hayes and Mapperley are within easy reach and are always in great condition for only £20The Course

Course review : Trent Lock Golf Centre
by Terry Statham on 12th July 2009You go into the large pro shop and have a very large selection of clubs, bags, balls etc etc, but then the one thing you would like when visiting a course for the 1st time does not exist, a course planner.
The course itself needs a bit of manicuring. You couldnt always see the fairway and rough divide. The greens could do with a fringe. The red and yellow stakes become visible from about 50 yds by which time you are reaching into your bag for your ball retriever.
The clubhouse has great food at a great price, and the beer is also well priced. The service you get in the clubhouse is very good.
I would be more happy paying about £12.00 for the round rather than the £17.50 being charged. There are a lot better courses out there for this price. The Course

by Terry Statham on 18th May 2009This course is very well maintained. From tee to green it is in tip-top shape. It is not the longest course but is demanding, especially physically as it is in a valley, so plenty of up and downhill shots. The greens don't have any bobbles at all.
A great day out.

by Terry Statham on 5th May 2009This course is pure quality. From Tee to green it is in tip top condition. We did not experience a single bobble on the greens. Hats off to the greenkeepers.
We played in very wet conditions and totally enjoyed the round. Going again 11.5.09 hopefully it will be dry.
I would expect to pay a lot more for a course of this calibre. £20 well spent for anyone. The Course

Course review : Tapton Park Golf Club
by Terry Statham on 4th May 2009This course has a great layout and is very scenic.
The greens are the worst I have played on. They are bumpier than a spotty kids face.
Some of the tee boxes need sorting as well, as many are not flat.
Bunkers are like clay pits, as they don't have enough sand in them. (BEWARE OF YOUR CLUBS).
This course has the potential to be a cracker, with a bit of hard work and money being spent on it.The Course

Course review : Ramsdale Park Golf Centre
by Terry Statham on 20th April 2009A great course. Front 9 was flat and steady for all golfers. The back 9 is totally different, being quite hilly.
Most tee boxes where in good shape. Fairways where good. The greens where in perfect condition and ran true.
The problem we had was the play was very slow, which always happens on a Monday apparently, due to a Monday club of the older generation playing.
The Bar has good food and drink at reasonable prices.
Will play there again but not on a Monday. The Course
