My Reviews

Course review : Hunley Hall Golf Club

Stunning views, nice course and lovely greens, great facilities and always an enjoyable day out by the sea. Maybe a bit pricey but you can usually get a good 2 for 1 or twilight deal to make it worth playing.

Course review : Norton Golf Club

Typical pay & play, just what youd expect, nice enough course, usually in pretty decent nick, reasonable price. Nothing fancy but it does the job for a round when you fancy just turning up.

Course review : Headlam Hall

Good beginners course, or for the older player. I usually take my dad here a couple times a year, he enjoys it as it isnt too demanding but a bit more like a proper course than playing pitch & putt. always enjoyable, superb greens.

Course review : Ramside Hall Golf Club

Over rated, decent enough course but doesnt merit the £40 price tag. I wouldnt have ever played it for that price without 2 for 1's.

Course review : Woodham Golf & Country Club

Always enjoy playing here, avoid in winter though, but in summer its a delight. lovely picturesque holes and not overly demanding. Great for a society day.

Course review : George Washington Golf & Country Club

Was an absolute mire, avoid in winter like the plague. Looks like it should be a nice summer course though.

Course review : Romanby Golf Club

Great course, quite demanding, some long tricky holes but a delight to play. Good winter course, and the clubhouse always welcoming, and great food.

Course review : Houghton le Spring Golf Club

played in winter and it was average at best. mostly winter greens, quite boggy underfoot and largely unenjoyable. Kids steal the flags regularly on a couple of the holes so youre aiming towards nothing. In no hurry to go back.

Course review : Aldwark Manor Golf Club

One of my favourite courses. Always in great condition, lovely greens, lush tree lines fairways, great views. A lot of very interesting holes. One of the few courses around that will make you use every club in the bag.

great linksy type course, very accomodating to visitors, lovely clubhouse and one of the most reasonable private courses in the area.

A Decent municipal course. In decent condition, nice clubhouse and you can always get a cheap twilight or 4 ball deal. Great pro shop too.

Course review : Oakleaf Golf Complex

An improving public course. Quite short in length but tricky and tight and lots of doglegs and blind shots. Reasonable price so worth a look. Clubhouse is great for an after round drink.

Course review : Knotty Hill Golf Centre

We played the C & D (Bishops) Course. It's a little hard walking but the fairways and greens are in lovely condition. Clubhouse may not sell beer but is an very welcoming place to have an after round coffee and chat. Practice facilities are among the best I've seen. Probably the most value for money course in the area.

Course review : High Throston Golf Club

Lovely course, some very challenging holes and the high handicapper will be lucky to come away from this course with more than 1 or 2 pars. Lovely grass on fairways and greens, nice soft sand in the bunkers, and very well kept throughout. The real downside is the lack of a clubhouse to chill out after a round. Decent value for the very competitive price it offers.

Course review : Elemore Golf Club

Decent enough course, some nice par and birdie able holes, even for the high handicapper, but some long challenging holes to. Grass on the fairways isnt the best but the greens are usually kept in decent enough condition. Clubhouse is very hospitable after a hard round, reasonably priced beer and food. Not a bad round for the price.

Course review : Lloret Papalús Golf Pitch & Putt(Lloret de Mar)

Outstanding par 3 course. Lots of very inticate holes, nothing easy about this pitch and putt. Emphasis on accuracy as most hols are on hills and any wayward shot could see you rolling hundreds of yards away or even out of bounds into the woods or drving range. Price was excellent, we paid 21 Euro for a round, club hire and balls. The only downside of a fabulous day was the fact that the course is very covered by trees and because it had rained heavily the day before, a lot of the more shaded areas where a little boggy, but nothing to spoil the round. It was November and we where playing in shorts and t shirts so shouldnt really complain. If you're holidaying in the area, dont be afraid to give this baby a try.
