My Reviews

Course review : Leeds Castle Golf Club

I was lured to this course by the chance to play a course in the grounds of "The most beautiful castle in the world".

I found the condition of the course to be good and found a couple of the holes quite challenging.

I didn't like the fact that you have to cross a road and back again just for two holes and found it a long walk between the 4th and 5th holes; but these are only minor niggles.

The club hose is a chalet with a small 'essentials' shop and no bar, but there is a pub just next to the course entrance.

Overall I think this is a fair 9-hole course with nice views as you pass the castle, but a round is the same price as my local 18-hole (£18).

I'd play it again, but only to try and nail that triple bogey (or three) I made

My rating: Don't travel too far to this one, but good if you are local or planning other activities in the area on the day.

Course review : Upchurch River Valley Golf Centre

This is my local course and great value for money. This club has an excellent range of facilities, including a nice driving range, weekly junior lessons for a fiver, good bar and nice food (if you like Parsley).

I haven't played many courses, so from my limited experience I think this course is in good condition with nice fairways and well kept greens.

It is a mature course with plenty of greenery to loose your ball in, but the rough is also well kept and there are no stinging nettles or other nasty weeds to make getting your balls back a bigger pain than necessary

As per other comments, the front 9 are very hilly and the back 9 fairly flat, so a good range of challenges to the skill and fitness for any level of amateur player. I find the greens quite open with little protection from bunkers and there are only a couple of water hazards.

IMHO, I don't think the course is 'dangerous' - no more so than any other course where amateurs' balls are flying from one fairway to another (including my own)!

My rating: well worth a visit!

Course review : The Ridge Golf Club

My first full round after a 7 year break and first time at The Ridge, so not a lot to compare to recently, however, I found the course in good condition with a good mix of length and shape to each hole. Will definately play again
