Reality golf TV

The World Golf League Million Dollar shootout airs in the UK from Tuesday 13th Nov 2007 on Setanta Sports golf channel. Bringing amateur golfers in the US together to compete in a team competition for a share of a $1,000,000 prize.

Ignoring the reality TV aspect and the draw of celebrities including PGA Tour stars Fred Funk and Mark Calcavecchia, along with LPGA Tour stars Cristie Kerr , Carin Koch and Bernadette Luse, plus the 'for TV' concepts of allowing teams to call on professional lifelines to hit a shot for them every six holes, this is an interesting and unique concept in terms of a golf competition.

Golfers from all walks of life of varying levels of golf compete together in a team scramble competition for a shot at the prize. 5 teams of 4 compete in a knock out style competition after being drafted from 22 golfers, yes 22. The first day is taken up with 17 golfers competing skills challenges to impress the 5 team captains, unfortunately 2 golfers have to go home without even competing. A very interesting concept for amateur golfers playing in competitive games.

Will be good to see how this show runs and is perceived, do golfers really want reality TV ? will it be a true competition or made for TV production with edited suspense and nerve. In the UK we will get to see over the next 7 weeks.
