Maintaining My Handicap

By Edward Norrey on 14-Aug-2011

I've just come home from a round at Rapier Barracks Golf Club.  I had a nasty front nine.  Nothing seemed to go right for me.  I remained positive throughout though.  I was with one of my best mates and I was enjoying the day.  That really helped to keep a postive psychological game.  Sure enough there was plenty of sledging and banter but that helps lift the mood.  My scores weren't too clever, even though I hit every fairway.  My iron shots were really slack and I just couldn't seem to catch a break.

I soon managed to turn it around on the back nine though.  I scored a gross par on the tenth hole and the rest seemed to take care of itself.  I scored six gross pars on the back nine and only dropped three shots.  I managed to finish with a net three under par, which I was very pleased with.  I suppose I felt under pressure playing the front nine, because this was my first round playing to my new handicap of 16.  This round just goes to show, that a round can be turned around any time.  You just have to keep a positive frame of mind.
