General Questions and Getting Started

What is included in the Platinum Account membership?
When you become a Platinum member you will receive following:
• A credit card sized handicap card that will be sent to you up to 3 times a year at your request.
• A recognised handicap certificate.
• Access to golfshake.com’s Premium website functionality.
• A Welcome Pack containing your handicap card, redemption information for a £25 Golfbreaks.com discount, a welcome letter, and a golfshake.com Round Recorder.
• An easy to use online system for requesting new handicap cards.

How long does my Platinum Account subscription last?
Your Platinum membership will last for 12 months from the date of subscription.

How much does Platinum Account membership cost?
If you are a new golfshake.com member or an existing Standard Account member, Platinum Account membership costs £14.95 per person for a 12 month subscription. If you are an existing Premium Account member, upgrading to a Platinum Account costs £9.95 for a year’s subscription and includes 12 months’ renewal of your Premium website membership from the date you subscribe.

How do I pay for a Platinum subscription or upgrading my account?
You pay online by credit card or debit card via our golfshake.com Paypal account. Alternatively, you can pay by phone by calling our Customer Services Team, or you can send payment by cheque.

What does the handicap card look like?
The card is made from 760 micron plastic and is the size of a credit card so that it will fit neatly into your wallet. An example of the card can be seen below.

How to I subscribe?
You subscribe by simply registering for free as a Standard Member and then selecting the Account Upgrade button on your home page. You will then be asked to fill in payment details online or send a cheque.

I am already a golfshake.com member. How do I upgrade my account?
Existing golfshake.com members can simply log in and select the Account Upgrade button on their home page and then follow the quick upgrade process.

How many handicap cards can I receive a year?
You can receive up to two handicap cards over your 12 month subscription period.

How do I get my first handicap card?
We will send you your first handicap card in your Welcome Pack once we have received your payment and you have entered three 18 hole rounds or more into our online score tracking system.

How do I request a new handicap card?
Simply log in to golfshake.com, go to the Account Status page and select the Request New Card button. You will then be asked to confirm and submit your card request, and your new card will be sent directly to you.

I am new to golfshake.com. What do I need to do to get a golf handicap?
Having registered with Golfshake.com, you then need to enter scores for three rounds of golf into our online score tracking system making sure you tick the “Include this round in handicap tracking ?” box found at the bottom of the scorecard. Once you have entered your three rounds we will calculate your handicap for you. The course must have the Standard Scratch Score set and 18 consecutive holes must have been played.

What does Premium website membership give me?
When you become a Platinum Account member you also receive 12 months’ Premium website membership. This gives you access to a range of additional website functionality such as:
• Advanced score tracking and in-depth game analysis.
• Additional round stats and performance reports in simple graphical format.
• A recognised handicap certificate; in online & print friendly versions.
• Ability to record advanced stats; putts, FIR, GIR, bunker shots, sand saves.
• Society and group management including tracking member handicaps, player stats, leaderboards, member subs, group messaging, news, pictures and chat.
• Golf event management system for organising golf days online from start to finish!

I run a golf group. Do I get a discount for my members?
Yes, if you run a group of 8 or more members and would like to purchase handicap cards for 8 or more of your group, then you can do so for just £7.50 per person. Please note that this is a special offer for groups featuring just one card per person and does not include the £25 Golfbreaks.com promotion, renewal cards or Premium member score tracking services as included in the full Platinum Account Membership.

Delivery

How do I request a card?
Simply log in to golfshake.com, go to the Account Status page and select the Request New Card button. You will then be asked to confirm and submit your card request, and your new card will be sent directly out to you.

When do I receive my Welcome Pack?
Once we have received your payment and when you have added three or more rounds to our online score tracking system, your welcome pack will be dispatched to you within 48 hours.

What are the delivery times for the handicap cards?
Your Welcome Pack and renewal cards will be sent to you by Royal Mail standard package post if you live in UK. You should allow up to 7 working days to receive them once you have added three rounds or more to our online score tracking system. If you live outside of the UK please allow up to 14 working days to receive your Welcome Pack and renewal cards.

Are there any delivery charges and if so what are they?
If your delivery address is in the UK there are no additional delivery charges as delivery is included in your Platinum membership subscription fee. If you live outside of the UK the cards are sent by Royal Mail standard international post and a one off fee of £6 is payable at the time of subscription.

I need my handicap card urgently. Can I request Express Delivery?
Yes, if your delivery address is in the UK, you can request Express Delivery for an additional fee of £6.45 per delivery. Welcome Packs and renewal cards will then be sent by Royal Mail Special Delivery which guarantees that they will reach you by 4pm the next day, providing that you made the request by 12pm the day before.

How do I request Express Delivery?
You can request Express Delivery if you have a UK delivery address by simply selecting the relevant box on the online payment form at the time of payment and the additional Express Delivery fee will automatically be added to the total sum you owe.

Can I request Express Delivery if I have a non UK delivery address?
Yes, if your mailing address is outside of the UK you can also request Express Delivery. Prices and delivery times are dependent on the delivery destination. Therefore to make a request please contact our Customer Services Team as soon as you have upgraded to a Platinum Account or requested a renewal card.

I have not received my card what can I do?
Please check that you have requested a card. Please Click on Platinum Account below your account ID number on your homepage and select the Request New Card button.
If you have requested a card and you can see on the system that it has been sent out, but you have still not received it, Please e-mail our Customer Services Team and we will look into it for you.


Golf Handicap

How do you calculate my golf handicap?
We calculate all golf handicaps according to the exact same specification and rules used by the UK and US handicapping systems. More details of how we calculate golf handicaps can be seen here .

What categories of handicap do you provide and what are the maximum handicaps?
We provide five categories of golf handicap. These are listed below with the maximum handicap in brackets:
1. Men (28)
2. Women (36)
3. Beginners (36)
4. Juniors (56) - junior handicaps are valid for members under 18 years of age
5. Registered Blind (56)

Is my golf handicap available for different country associations?
You can select to view your golf handicap according to the rules of the following country associations: UK and US. The ability to view your handicap as EGA and AGU handicaps will be available shortly.

Is the golfshake.com handicap an official golf handicap?
The golfshake.com handicap is a recognised handicap that is calculated according to the exact same specification and rules used by the UK and US handicapping systems and is accepted at golf courses worldwide. We are at present unable to formally call our golf handicap an official handicap as currently official handicaps can only be issued by golf clubs to their club members. However golfshake.com have never received any reported cases of anyone who has been refused permission to play a golf course after having shown a golfshake.com Handicap. If you are in any doubt, simply check with the club before you travel or book tee times by emailing, faxing or posting them a copy of your handicap certificate.

Where will my golf handicap be accepted?
Your golfshake.com Handicap Card is recognised and accepted at golf courses throughout the world as proof of handicap.

How do I show my golf handicap to a golf club, event organiser or friends in advance of playing?
You can very easily present your handicap to clubs, event organisers and friends in advance of play by setting your Handicap Security to Public via your Profile Settings and emailing them a web link to your Handicap Certificate page . Alternatively you can download the .pdf version of your handicap certificate from the Handicap page and email it to the club, or print and post/fax it to them.

I am playing in a Club Open Championship. Will my golf handicap be accepted?
If you are playing in a golf club’s Open Championship, as a matter of course, you should always check with the club before you enter that it accepts your golfshake.com Handicap for the competition. This is because some golf clubs may only accept handicap certificates issued by other golf clubs to club members for their Open Championships.


Renewal

How do I renew my Platinum membership when my subscription expires?
You can renew your Platinum Account subscription at any time online by going to the Account Upgrade page and following the quick renewal process.

What happens if I do not renew my Platinum Account subscription?
If you do not wish to renew your Platinum Account after your 12 month subscription expires, your account will automatically revert to a Standard Account which has restricted access to website functionality and no Handicap Card service. However on reverting to a Standard Account none of your existing scoring history or rounds will be deleted.
