On Course Foundation Beneficiaries To Participate In Winter Skills Event At Belton Woods

Beneficiaries of On Course Foundation - the only dedicated golf charity supporting the recovery of wounded, injured and sick service personnel and veterans - have been given the opportunity to work on their games in a Winter Skills Event at Belton Woods. 

The 17 deserving attendees will have high hopes of success this season after enjoying a day’s coaching at the top resort in Grantham, Lincolnshire – part of QHotels, the UK’s largest golf operator.

As part of the event, the participants received extensive tuition from the foundation’s teaching professional Alasdair Barr, as well as offering advice on improving their psychological approach to the game.

Will Barker, regional employment and events manager for On Course Foundation, is confident about the support the charity is offering its beneficiaries. He said: “We have received some very good feedback from the day and I’m sure the event will prove very beneficial to everyone who attended.

“Belton Woods features an array of top-of-the-range golfing facilities and the event provided a great golf experience which will allow for a marked improvement in the games of our beneficiaries.

“As a sport, golf offers a unique platform where players of all skills and backgrounds can compete healthily, improving not only their physical but mental strength, and events like these are key to helping our members realise their full potential.”

The skills event is one of several that will be held at QHotels golf resorts across the UK in the coming months as part of the group’s role as the Foundation’s official charity partner for 2016, with further events taking place at Oulton Hall (April 12-14), Belton Woods (May 9) and Forest Pines Hotel & Golf Resort (June 14) later this year.

The AA Hotel Group of the Year 2014/15 will be On Course Foundation’s preferred golf academy and hotel partner in 2016 as part of its on-going commitment to growing the game at all levels.

The aim of the foundation is to build confidence and self-belief in our beneficiaries through golf skills and employment events, and set them on the path to meaningful employment opportunities in the golf industry. Led by our dedicated PGA professionals, our programme of golf activities aims to restore self-confidence and provide a sense of purpose to individuals who once struggled to see hope in their future.
