Reader Review - Powakaddy FW5

By: | Thu 06 Aug 2015

Powakaddy have been at the fore front of the electric trolley market from the very beginning. They have enjoyed huge success and maybe most of all with their FW range. We recently got our hands on the new and improved FW5 trolley. Golfshake reader, Richard Moore headed out on the Brabazon Course at The Belfry to test.

What Powakaddy say about the FW5:

Ambidextrous control with soft touch T-Bar grip and a Power On/Off LED indicator complete with Power, Pause & Resume function, as well as Digital Power Gauge and Battery Fuel Indicator

Key features include a integrated USB point for charging mobile phones and GPS devicesADF (Automatic Distance Function) offers ability to set the trolley off in distances of 15, 30 or 45 yards.

Richard tested the Powakaddy FW5 on The Belfry's Brabazon course

Looks and Feel

Looked nice and slick - not bulky at all. It felt incredibly responsive which I was quite surprised about.

Performance

It took me a hole or two to get used to it, but one click to go/stop and a twist of the knob to set the speed. Nice and easy to accelerate up hills/through heavy rough to keep pace. I even had some fun setting it at 7mph so i could jog round some holes! which is something I like to do when the course is quiet!

Pros

Really Easy to use, both switching on and off and manoeuvering. It was also very easy to strap on the bag.

Cons

I missed some of the easy to reach facilities on my own push trolley having somewhere to fix my GPS; an easy to reach bag/holder for balls and tees and drinks....(one of my fellow testers said it could do with a holder for scorecards and umbrellas!) - all good ideas i think but  not  show stoppers!

The Bottom Line

Very nice electric trolley. First time I have ever used one. Enjoyed it but for £300+ It is not a must for me. Others may well feel differently.

Richard's Rating - 8/10
