Now is the time to Get into Golf in Nottinghamshire

By: Golf Shake | Wed 13 May 2015

England Golf and Nottinghamshire Golf Partnership are working with clubs across Nottinghamshire, to give new participants the chance to try our great game and love it forever.

For 2015 the Get into Golf Campaign is encouraging anyone with an interest in taking up Golf to come along on the Get into Golf Journey. The programme is open to adults aged 16 and above and there are tailored coaching sessions for beginners, those returning to the game and infrequent Golfers looking to play more regularly.

An average game of golf has great health benefits and will easily achieve the recommended 150 minutes of moderate exercise a week recommended by the NHS to stay healthy. Golf burns off more energy than you’d think: playing an 18-hole game of golf uses at least 900 calories.

Sue Chapman from Newark’s Get into Golf sessions said:

‘We’ve become close friends through our shared interest in golf and we support each other both on and off the course.  We are united by our love of the sport – all helping each other to reduce our handicaps and increase our skills.  We are all working women; however work is rarely the topic of conversation.’

For details about Get into Golf sessions please visit www.getintogolf.org/notts, where you can book online, or contact your local club.

Lots of Golf Club are now also offering taster and trial membership options for those people thinking about playing more regularly and details can be found on our website at www.nottinghamshiregolfpartnership.co.uk

The programme provides weekly one-hour group lessons delivered by PGA coaches and welcomes complete beginners, so it’s a fantastic chance to try a new sport. No equipment is needed, just turn come along in comfortable clothes and give golf a try. – And better still, most of the coaching sessions are just £5 per week.

Alice Lowe, Golf Development Officer for the Nottinghamshire, encourages people to give Golf a try and see the benefits:

“Clubs all over our County are running Get into Golf sessions and the group format means it’s a great way to learn the game with like-minded people. People of all ages have been coming along to the sessions over the past few years and it’s also great to see as many women as men getting involved.” she said.

For further details or to book onto a session visit www.nottinghamshiregolfpartnership.co.uk.
