Single Figure Golfer, Jamega & Tournament College Golf combine in support of future stars

By: Golf Shake | Wed 01 Apr 2015

Single Figure Golfer (SFG), Jamega Pro Golf Tour (Jamega) and Tournament Golf College (TGC) have announced plans to support junior golfers and TGC students in their quest to build professional careers in the golf. All under 18s and current TGC students can now enter any SFG Tour event in 2015 for £60 - less than half the normal entry fee via the SFG website.

Operated by Jamega, the SFG Tour offers 20 (two-day plus practice round) events from April to October across southern England, the West Country, the Midlands and Wales.  The tour offers a wealth of opportunities for talented players to compete in high-class, professionally-managed tournaments and develop their skills playing against tour professionals.

Rob Millar, founder of SFG said: “Many young golfers find it tough to find good quality tournaments to play in during the UK season.  Many get balloted out of the major amateur tournaments, and this opportunity to play on the SFG Tour presents a great chance to test themselves against, and be inspired by, some of the best up and coming players in the UK. "

Gary Harris, founder of Jamega, said: “As the leading UK development tour for over 10 years we pride ourselves on bringing opportunity to the next generation of pros, and want to support junior golf. We see TGC as the ideal education platform for aspiring youngsters to earn a proper degree whilst receiving the best game development.  We have a number of TGC students who have joined the Jamega Tour after completing their studies and we look forward to watching their progress over the next few years.”

Alex Lindsay, business manager at TGC, said “We are increasingly aware that any golf degree must include a real competition element. A number of our students were invited to play in Jamega events in 2013 and 2014 and all found the experience both valuable and enjoyable. We are delighted that SFG have picked up the baton to help all young golfers get a chance to play in these great events, and that TGC can be a part of the initiative.
