Expansion Continues at Poland’s Modry Las Golf Club

By: Golf Shake | Mon 08 Sep 2014

Poland’s top golf resort has doubled its number of rooms available to visiting golfers following the opening of a new wing of sumptuous garden suites. According to the team at Modry Las Golf Club, the new rooms have been designed with individuals and couples in mind with a spacious layout and spectacular views across Poland’s only signature golf course.

The new garden suites join three Swiss-style self-catering cottages that were opened last year to accommodate rising demand for on-site accommodation at Modry Las. According to Pamela Gromadzki, the resort’s International Marketing Director, the cottages proved so popular that additional rooms were required to cover the growing number of requests.

“It has been a busy year at Modry Las,” she said. “The new garden suites were planned as part of our fifth anniversary celebrations but have become increasingly important as demand for our cottages has grown since their opening 12 months ago. As more and more golfers from across Europe want to experience the special ambiance at Modry Las, we have had to respond by accelerating our plans.”

The opening of the new suites is the latest development in an important year for the resort, which celebrated its fifth anniversary in July. As well as a busy diary of events, the club also marked the five-year milestone by breaking ground on a new nine-hole course, Orli Las, to accompany its celebrated 18-hole Gary Player design and finalising the structure of its impressive new clubhouse. The foundations of the resort’s first property offering have also been laid.

“The new course is taking shape as is the clubhouse,” said Gromadzki, “and we are about to start work on our exciting new show house. The first five years at Modry Las have been exceptional as we have strived to create a world-class facility designed for international guests and the growing number of Polish golfers. The new garden suites along with the other developments at Modry Las have meant we are steadily progressing towards our ultimate goal.”

With membership on the increase, Modry Las has become an established golfing venue in central Europe and a base for new golfing talent. According to the resort’s head coach, golf in Poland is enjoying impressive growth as more people take up the sport.

“We have wonderful practice facilities at Modry Las which are used avidly by visiting golfers and members alike,” said Peter Bronson, head professional at Modry Las. “We have also initiated new collaborations with local schools and introduced free golf lessons for children. By the end of August we had completed 40 green cards for new golfers which gives you some idea of the level of interest being shown for golf in Poland.”

In addition, 2014 saw Modry Las included in Germany’s leading golf magazine’s first Top 100 European Golf Courses list as the only Polish entry. And with plans to exhibit at IGTM in Italy at the end of October, it seems the drive to secure Modry Las as a must-visit resort is, if anything, gathering pace.

“Inclusion in Golf Journal’s Top 100 was very pleasing, especially as many of our international members come from Germany,” noted Gromadzki. “It reflects what has been achieved so far and acts as a good marker. We have accomplished so much at Modry Las in such a short time that it makes us very excited about the future and achieving further recognised success.”
