The Open returns to Royal Liverpool Golf Club from July 17-21 for the first time since Tiger Woods won the coveted Claret Jug in 2006.

The Road to the Open campaign seeks to encourage potential players to give the sport a try with roadshows and events across the region.

Craig Thomas, development officer for the Cheshire County Golf Partnership, says: “The Road to the Open provides a variety of opportunities at clubs across Cheshire to give golf a go.

“The chance to see the world’s best players at Hoylake will inspire a new generation of players and clubs across the county are ready to offer them an ideal introduction to the many health and social benefits that golf can bring throughout a lifetime.”
