FeedbacK Golf - Feature Review

By: Adam Smith | Mon 02 Jun 2014

In the ever changing and developing world of golf there’s always new training aids or swing analysis tools out there to help you. I must admit I wasn’t a massive fan of the one’s I have come across until I heard about FeedbacK Golf.

I was contacted to see if I wanted to try the first ‘voice controlled, hands free, golf training aid’. My scepticism went through the roof. It sounded amazing but ‘it’ll probably be like all the rest’ I thought…….how wrong I was.

New on the market

Billed as ‘one of the most high-tech golf swing analysis products on the market’ I can see why thousands of golfers in Feedback GolfAmerica are rushing to use FeedbacK Golf to improve their game.  Incredibly simple to use and the best part, is the analysis and feedback you receive after every swing.

Founded in April 2012, it was on the range that CEO Shawn McDonald had her eureka moment:

“I had the idea that a smartphone should be able to help me with my golf swing when my instructor was not available.  I did a lot of research and determined that the product I envisioned was not available but it was possible.”

A month after that range session Feedback Golf was formed and immediately put into manufacturing with the aim to show-off the product at upcoming expos and trade shows.

“We received a tremendous boost in sales and media attention as a result of the PGA Merchandise Show in January 2014,” said McDonald.

“As a result of the show we now have a firm working with e-retail, retail and green grass distributors around the US and sales are growing month-to-month.”

Before you can use the swing aid you have to download the free app and register, all of which is still free of charge.

2014’s hottest new product comes with a flexible tri-pod that attaches to the top of your golf bag where you also connect your phone ready to video your swing.

Through the Bluetooth technology you can voice command when filming starts which will be confirmed back to you by the little device which you connect to your belt.

So you simply; attach the tri-pod, clamp in phone, load up the app, attach Bluetooth device and you’re ready for your very own personal swing analysis.

All of your swings taken and recorded are stored in FeedbacK’s Clubhouse which is on their website. You initially receive 20 free swings to view online before you have to purchase membership for continued use where you also receive swing analysis by a PGA pro.

Through the mobile app you can also compare your swing/flight path/impact position with your favourite golfer as you see yourself side-by-side on screen. Try not to get to down hearted by this!

See for yourself

Another great feature is the easy to use drawing tools via the mobile app. You see it every weekend on Sky Sports with experts drawing lines on screen as to where the player should be in the swing plane or at impact. Well you can now do the same to yourself in frame-by-frame action. If there’s something you feel that’s not quite right with your swing then I suggest giving FeedbacK a go.

You can also share you swing on social media to receive further feedback from your peers.

Right now the app is only available through the i-phone with an Android release planned from later this year.

The future is bright and there’s even more exciting news to come early next year as McDonald aims to break into other sporting markets:

“Our next product, FeedbacK: Instruct, will launch at the PGA Merchandise Show in January 2015.  FeedbacK: Instruct allows the golfer to receive instruction instantly after a swing at the driving range via a proprietary coaching algorithm.

“FeedbacK fully intends to expand our technology to other markets.  These include other sports (baseball, tennis, basketball, etc.), personal training and physical therapy.”

I fully recommend giving FeedbacK Golf a try even if you were like me and have doubts on whether they work or not. I’ll continue to use it and hope my swings keeps getting better as I know it needs too.

The FeedbacK system is available for online order from $79.95. For more information or to purchase FeedbacK Golf, visit their website.
