Picking out a winner in the golf is always difficults so here are a few betting tips for this years Open Championship at Muirfield...

No.1 Tiger Woods 9-1

It is still difficult to look beyond Woods at any Major, despite him not having not won one for some time. Questions remain over his injured elbow, but if he is back to full fitness he will be hard to beat.

He loves links golf and often states that the Open is his favourite major. Muirfield is probably the fairest golf course on the Ernie ElsOpen rota with  funny bounces at a minimum we should see the cream rise to the top.

No.2 Graeme McDowell 22-1

McDowell is having maybe his second best season ever! He has won three big titles over the past few months on both sides of the Atlantic. His Open record is not outstanding, but a 5th place finish last year suggests he is ready to go on a win at a links course.

His straight hitting and great putting should suit an Open course where the rough is reported to be shoulder high in places.

No.3 Justin Rose 16-1

Rose is in the form of his life following his triumph in the US Open at Merion last month. His career has been on an upward curve for some time now and it would be no surprise to see him go back to back in the majors.

Although his best finish was 4th in 1998 as an amateur, Rose seems to have found that magic ability of peaking for the major events. It will be a surprise if he is not on the leader board come Sunday afternoon.

No.4 Sergio Garcia 25-1

Garcia’s game has always suited links golf with low powerful flight, he is also a very straight driver of the ball and those ‘Spanish’ hands see him with an advantage around the greens where so much imagination is needed.

Garcia also has form around Muirfield having won his British amateur title there. He has come close on several occasions in The Open recording 6 top 10’s.

No.5 Ernie Els 28-1

Ernie won The Open last year at Royal Lytham and he was the last man to win the Open at Muirfield – enough said!  -Make sure you get on Ernie; we cannot see him not competing for the Claret Jug this year.

No.6 Brandt Snedeker 33-1

Snedeker has had an indifferent run of late following his blistering start to the season, but he may be the next man in line to win a major now that Rose and Scott have broken through. Many are talking about the breakthrough slam this year and this week it could be Snedekers turn.

He has been coming close at Majors and is unlikely to be daunted if he is in with a chance to win on Sunday. He also has recent form with a 3rd position last year.

Outsiders

Branden Grace 55-1

Grace is in great form following a playoff defeat to Phil Mickleson at the Scottish open last week. His rise to the top of the game has been rapid and seen him pick up multiple wins on the European tour along the way. His next step will to be getting in the mix in a major and Muirfiled may well be his chance to take that final leap.

Thomas Bjorn 60-1

The likeable Dane has been in great form over the past two seasons and is regularly popping up at the top of leader boards on the European tour. He has a great record in the Open and finished 8th when the Open last visited Muirfield.

Where to bet

We have priced all our tips up withBet Victor this week. They are offering a staggering 8 places on The Open. With golf being unpredictable and the odds being so long, we think Bet Victors 8 places are too much to resist. It may even mean that you could go to maybe 9 or 10 each way picks and be confident on seeing a decent return.

What’s more Bet Victor have a great sign up offer –  They will match your fist bet up to £25 with a free bet, so take advantage of  8 places and a free bet – Great value!
