HowDidiDo National Matchplay ChampionshipAmateur golfers from across the UK have until May 19 to sign up for the prestigious HowDidiDo National Matchplay Championship which will have its grand final at the exclusive Quinta do Lago resort, on the Algarve, next February.

A total of 32 golfers will enjoy a week-long, expenses-paid trip to the Algarve, including flights, accommodation at the luxury Monte da Quinta Resort, golf - on Quinta do Lago's three world-class championship courses, the North, South and Laranjal - and a gala dinner at the grand final.

They will fight their way through to the grand final in four competitions: singles, pairs, mixed pairs and senior pairs, for those aged 50 or more. Each will have played up to four local qualifying rounds to reach a regional final, which will take place in October at various Macdonald Hotels golf resorts across the UK. And qualifiers from there will be jetting off to Portugal for the experience of a lifetime.

Last year almost 1,500 golfers took part in the knockout rounds before Michael Devaney, a seven-handicapper from St Neots GC, in Cambridgeshire, took the prestigious 2012 singles title at Vilamoura, in February.

HowDidiDo Media's managing director, Barry Dyett, said: "The HowDidiDo National Matchplay Championship offers amateur golfers the opportunity to experience competitive golf locally, with a week away in the Portuguese sunshine during our winter, playing for the title, as their ultimate goal."

Registration to HowDidiDo is required to check handicap lists or competition results, but it remains a free service to any golf club where administrators use CLUB2000 software from Club Systems International, which is in place at around 2,000 UK clubs. Entry to the 2013 HowDidiDo National Matchplay Championship singles competition costs £25, while it costs £35 per pair, to enter the other categories. Entry closes on May 19, 2013.
