Charity Golf Day at The Royal Birkdale Golf Club
Posted by: Darren Ramowski on Thu 31 May 2012
The Royal Birkdale Golf Club will once again host the Derian House Children’s Hospice Charity Golf Day on Friday 24th August and will provide a perfect opportunity to play this championship course and to make a significant contribution to such a worthy cause.
Royal Birkdale Golf Club
The Club is currently rated the best course in England and the third best in the UK. It has hosted most major amateur and professional championships including nine Opens, two Ryder Cups, five Women’s British Open and the Amateur Championship. The Club’s champions include Peter Thomson, Arnold Palmer, Lee Trevino, Tom Watson, Nick Faldo and Sam Torrance and you too could be a Birkdale Champion by taking part in the Derian House Children’s Hospice Charity Golf Day on Friday 24th August.
Derian House Children's Hospice Charity
Derian House in Chorley, Lancashire (www.derianhouse.co.uk) currently provides support for more than 250 families who have a child with a terminal or life threatening illness and a further 200 or so families are receiving bereavement support. The children need a high level of specialised care but the centralised government funding only provides enough for 5 weeks of the year. They rely heaviliy on public funds which is why we need your help.

The Charity competition day is open to teams of four (all must be members of golf clubs and have official handicaps) with tee times starting from 1:00pm from two tees.
The format will be a Team Stableford with two scores to count on each hole. The entry fee is £900 per team and includes an exclusive goodie bag on arrival, lunch, golf and dinner lunch, golf, dinner and prize presentation including three best teams, longest drive, nearest the pin and individual putting competition.
