Dufner Finishes Strong to Complete Sensational Double Win with Titleist
Titleist Press Release
Titleist Brand Ambassador Jason Dufner birdied the final hole of the HP Byron Nelson Championship this weekend, and with it, secured his second PGA Tour win in four weeks. Dufner’s win in Texas comes just three weeks after his breakthrough victory at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans and vaults the Alabama resident to the top of the FedEx Cup rankings. Dufner finished one shot clear of Titleist golf ball loyalist Dicky Pride (Pro V1) who finished alone in second on 10-under par, one shot ahead of four players who tied for third including Titleist Brand Ambassador Marc Leishman (Pro V1x) and Pro V1x loyalist Jonas Blixt. There was further success for Titleist on the European Tour, where Pro V1x loyalist Nicolas Colsaerts won the Volvo World Match Play Championship, as Titleist golf balls continue to be the choice of champions around the world.
Dufner trusted the performance and precision of Titleist equipment from tee-to-green at TPC Four Seasons Resort, including the Pro V1 golf ball, 910D2 driver, 910F and 906 F2 fairway metals, 910H hybrid, AP2 irons, Vokey Design SM4 sand and lob wedges, and Scotty Cameron putter. Dufner becomes only the second player to record multiple victories on the 2012 PGA Tour season, joining Pro V1x loyalist Hunter Mahan who trusted the feel and control of the #1 ball in golf to win the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship and Shell Houston Open. As well as being the choice of the champion, Titleist golf balls were also the choice of the majority of the field with 102 players choosing the Pro V1 or Pro V1x, compared to 18 for the nearest competitor. Titleist also topped the equipment count for wedges and putters at the event.
On the European Tour, Titleist Golf Ball loyalist Nicolas Colsaerts (Pro V1x) became the first Belgian to win the Volvo World Match Play Championship. Colsaerts’ second career European Tour title came at Finca Cortesin as he emerged victorious from a final four which included three Titleist golf ball loyalists. Colsaerts was joined in the semi-finals by Titleist Brand Ambassador Rafael Cabrera-Bello (Pro V1x) and Pro V1x loyalist Paul Lawrie. Titleist was also the golf ball of choice at the limited field event in Spain, with 9 players choosing Titleist compared to 7 seven for the nearest competitor.
Elsewhere, on the LPGA Tour, Azahara Munoz came through an all-Pro V1 final to win her first LPGA Tour title at the Sybase Match Play Championship, defeating fellow Titleist golf ball loyalist Candie Kung 2&1. On the Japan Tour, Jay Choi (Pro V1x) also entered the winners’ circle for the first time, completing a one shot victory at the Totoumi Hamamatsu Open 2012. These victories take Titleist’s 2012 worldwide golf ball win count to 61, compared to 7 for the nearest competitor.
A second PGA Tour victory for Titleist Brand Ambassador Jason Dufner, coupled with European Tour success for Pro V1x loyalist Nicolas Colsaerts and further victories for Titleist golf ball loyalists around the world, continues to prove that the world’s best players opt for the performance excellence of Titleist for their success.
