Wilson Win Marks Three-in-a-Row for Titleist Golf Balls on the 2012 PGA Tour
Posted by: Darren Ramowski on Thu 26 Jan 2012
Titleist Press Release
Mark Wilson trusted the feel and control of the legendary Pro V1x at the PGA Tour’s Humana Challenge this weekend, and gave the #1 Ball in Golf its third consecutive win on the PGA Tour. Wilson follows Titleist Brand Ambassador Steve Stricker and Pro V1x loyalist Johnson Wagner into the winners circle in 2012, after they clinched the Hyundai Tournament of Champions and the Sony Open respectively. The victory in California marks the fifth PGA Tour win of Wilson’s career, including his third in the last 12 months. Joining Wilson in the winners’ circle this weekend was Pro V1x loyalist Dan Forsman, who captured the season opening Mitsubishi Electric Championship on the Champions Tour.
Wilson fired a final round 3-under par 69 to post a 24-under par total and finish two shots clear of Johnson Wagner (Pro V1x), John Mallinger (Pro V1x) and Robert Garrigus as each of the top four finishers put their trust in the performance excellence of the legendary Pro V1 franchise. As well as being the choice of the top four finishers, Titleist golf ball loyalists also occupied ten of the top-11 spots on the leaderboard and were the choice of the majority of the field, with 99 players choosing Titleist, compared to 14 for the nearest competitor. The playability and performance of Titleist equipment also saw the brand top the counts for iron sets, wedges and putters respectively.
Elsewhere, on the Champions Tour, Dan Forsman (Pro V1x) also started 2012 with a victory, posting a 15-under par total to top fellow Titleist golf ball loyalist Jay Don Blake (Pro V1x) and win the Mitsubishi Electric Championship. The victory marked the third Champions Tour title for Forsman, who closed with a final round 3-under par 69.
Titleist’s winning start to 2012 follows a banner season in 2011, which saw the legendary Pro V1 franchise record 175 victories across worldwide professional tours, compared to 27 for the nearest competitor. This impressive tally exceeded the 2010 worldwide golf ball win count (149) and the fast start for the Pro V1 on the PGA Tour in 2012 suggests that this will be another stand-out year for the #1 Ball in Golf.
A fifth career PGA Tour title for Titleist golf ball loyalist Mark Wilson, marking the third consecutive win for Titleist golf ball loyalists on the 2012 PGA Tour, continues to prove that the world’s best players continue to opt for the matchless performance of Titleist for their success.
