Footjoy Stands Out As Footwear Of Choice At 2011 Titleist PGA Playoffs
Posted by: Darren Ramowski on Thu 01 Dec 2011
FootJoy, the #1 shoe and glove in golf, was once again the leading shoe of choice for the majority of field at the end of season Titleist PGA Playoffs contested on the PGA Sultan course in Antalya, Turkey. Of the 24 players competing at the playoffs over 91% chose the superior comfort and performance of FootJoy’s market-leading shoes. Seven of the players that finished inside of the top ten, and 71% of the field overall, relied upon the superior comfort and performance of FJ ICON™. This count amongst the UK and Ireland’s leading club professionals mirrors counts across the worldwide professional tours where, each week, the world’s best players opt for the unrivalled performance of FootJoy golf shoes.
A thrilling final day went down to the wire in Antalya, with the lead shifting several times on the back nine before Richard Wallis was crowned champion by a single stroke. The absorbing contest was ignited when Simon Lilly fired a scintillating back nine on his way to a 64, laying down the gauntlet for the players behind him in the field. Wallis rose to meet Lilly’s challenge, and signalled his intent when he produced a magnificent five iron to seven feet on the par 5 16th to set up an eagle, before going on to finish with a final round 68, securing the £2,000 first prize. Both Wallis and Lilly relied on the all round excellence of the FJ ICON™ throughout the playoffs, and with this win Wallis secures a coveted spot in the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth and the Scottish and Welsh Opens in 2012.
“To have Britain’s leading PGA Professionals putting their trust in FootJoy Shoes for the season ending Titleist PGA Playoffs rounds off a fantastic year and highlights that we are continuing to set the standard at all levels of professional golf,” commented Russell Lawes, European Marketing Manager, FootJoy.
Whether it is the all-round excellence of the FJ ICON™, the reliability and consistent performance of the new DryJoys Tour™, or the comfort of the FJ Sport, FootJoy remains the overwhelming favourite for golfers of all abilities around the world.
