Dartmouth Launches PowerPlay Golf League
Posted by: Darren Ramowski on Wed 05 Oct 2011
Dartmouth Golf & Country Club is giving golfers the chance to compete in the latest phenomenon to hit the game with the launch of a new PowerPlay Golf League.
The exciting new two-flag format, hailed by Ryder Cup heroes Ian Poulter and Graeme McDowell, will become a regular fixture at the South Devon resort with a team competition running from November until February.
PowerPlay Golf is played over nine holes, with Stableford scoring, and allows players to designate certain holes where they can score double points.
Having experienced PowerPlay in its televised debut at Celtic Manor, Poulter said: “I like to have fun on the golf course and the PowerPlay format means that you can get back into contention with some big plays towards the end.”
McDowell added: “It’s golf’s Twenty20. You’ve got to play aggressively – that’s the beauty of PowerPlay Golf.”
At least two events will be played on the resort’s Dartmouth Course each month, and each team of four’s best three scores will decide their final position in the league. Registration for the league costs £10 per player with a £5 entry fee for each event played in.
Golfers unsure if PowerPlay is for them can experience it for themselves before the league starts with an open day at Dartmouth Golf & Country Club on Thursday, October 13, in which places cost just £8.95 for nine holes of PowerPlay Golf and a carvery.
To register for Dartmouth Golf & Country Club’s PowerPlay league or open day call 01803 712016, email golf@dgcc.co.uk or visit www.dgcc.co.uk.
