Ladies of Queen of the Green

By: Adam Smith | Thu 21 Jul 2011

Recently I got a chance to sit down and have a chat with girls who make up Team ‘Queen of the Green’ out on Ladies European Tour.

Rebecca Hudson, Holly Aitchison, Kylie Walker and Tara Dayer-Smith were having great fun at a photo shoot at The Nottinghamshire Golf Club where they were modelling some of the Queen’s best gear.

They took time out to have an informal chat with me so I could find out some information on them about life on and off the course.

AS: So ladies thanks for joining me, first of all let me ask you how it feels to be part of the Queen of the Green brand?

HA:  I’m really honoured to be part of the ‘Queen on the Green’ team and be part of the brand, it means a lot to come in as the brands really taking off at the minute.

KW: I love the clothes as the make me feel really feminine and I enjoy wearing them. We get a lot of other players commenting on the logo but now people know the brand as they’ve seen us wearing it. At the start of the season they would ask ‘who is it’ but not now which is great!

AS: Do you enjoy days like this coming in and doing something a bit different away from the course?

RH: I do it’s nice, it’s a bit of fun and we get to wear some really nice things. They’re long days but usually good fun.

KW: Yeah, it’s nice to give something back to the brand and it gives us time out from being away on tour and it’s a good laugh.

AS: What’s been the highlight of your golfing career?

HA: I finished second in Holland a few weeks ago, I lead from the start which was new for me and in difficult conditions but it was nice to have a high finish and Hopefully have a few more.

RH: I’ve been quite lucky, I’ve won four times on tour. I won in Hungary in 2006 which was nice but I also played with Trish Johnson in the Euro-Nations cup and we went on and won it and I learnt a lot from playing golf with her. When we were in certain situations she would give me some words of wisdom about how she deals with things and gave me some great advice for the future.

KW: This is my second year on tour and I finished the end of last year quite strongly with a couple of top-ten’s but it’s been up and down this year.  I’m playing good so I’m just looking forward to improving as much as I can.

AS: What’s your favourite country you’ve played golf in?

TDS: Morocco

KW: Dubai

RH: I like playing everywhere, they have something different but if I was to choose I play well in Spain.

HA: I like going to Portugal, I usually do well there.

AS: Not just in golf but who would be your ideal fourball you would want to play with?

KW: I would have Tiger Woods, Jennifer Lopez and Will Smith

TDA: David Attenborough, Seve and Richard Branson

HA: Annika Sorenstam, Johnny Depp and Robert Downey Jr.

AS: Okay lastly tell the BunkerWorld readers something they wouldn’t ever find out about you?

RH: I love gardening, I’ve recently got into it and I don’t know why but I really enjoy it. I have flowers and I grow my own vegetables so it’s quite full out there.

HA: I have passed my grade A singing class but I’ve never done karaoke. I passed the exam in classical music but you’ll have to get me very drunk to get me on karaoke.

KW: I’m a Jaffa Cake fiend! I can’t get enough of them. I’ll probably eat two boxes a week.

TDS: When I took a break from being on tour, I lived on a tug boat for a couple of years. It was so much fun.

We wish the ladies the best of luck for the rest of the season. They all feel like they are playing well and with a bit more consistancy we may even have a ‘Queen of the Green’ winning on tour sooner rather than later.
