All Eyes on Tiger Again

By: Adam Smith | Mon 14 Feb 2011

Unfortunately the actions of Tiger Woods have overshadowed what was a pulsating final day in Dubai with some great and sometimes unbelievable golf being played.

The media this morning is concentrating more on Tiger spitting on the green than the fantastic performance by Alvaro Quiros whose round included an eagle, a hole-in-one and a triple bogey after losing a ball.

Now I'm not writing to have a go at the media because in the end 'Tiger sells copies' and that is a fact that no-one can get away from but what about the argument going on? If you haven't seen what all the fuss is about view here but I think we all view this as bad etiquette but it's being made worse because it's on the green. I've seen him along with others including Dustin Johnson and Jeff Overton particularly at the Ryder Cup spit around the course all the time.

The reaction from Sky's commentators really kicks it all off for me who were appalled by Tiger's actions and questioned his attitude towards the game and why he should have so much arrogance. There's such a fine line between arrogance and confidence that sometimes it can be mistaken for one or the other. Some would argue that his confidence isn't there so it must be arrogance but unless you're standing in his shoes then who are we to say which it is?

I agree that he shouldn't have done it but what is going to be done about it? If the European Tour say there’re going to fine him then he could easily say "I'm never coming back to this tour again" which for some of you will think is a blessing in disguise but you have to understand that even though down to number three in the world he is still the biggest draw for fans and it's the fans who pay the money so it's a difficult situation for all involved.

I'd be interested in hearing what Tiger thinks if questioned about the incident. My guess is that he will feel he's done nothing wrong but then again is that 'arrogance' coming through?

Let's hear your comments on what was a great tournament.
