Langer with the British Seniors Open titleIt was a good weekend for European golf as Swede’s dominated on both sides of the Atlantic.

Richard Johnson won on home soil as he claimed the Scandinavian Masters in Stockholm, whilst Carl Pettersson shot six birdies in eight holes to win the Canadian Open by one shot.

After shooting a third round 60 to put him in contention, Pettersson continued his good form on the final day to beat American Dean Wilson.

The tremendous weekend came after Pettersson had to hole a putt on the 18th on Friday to make sure he made the cut.

The big Swede could even manage a bogey on the 18th Sunday to secure victory.

Luke Donald finished third following a 66 to continue his good form.

Richard Johnson holed a long birdie putt on the 18th green to win the Scandinavian Master by one shot.

Joint leader overnight, Johnson carded a 71 to finish on 11 under par, edging out Rafael Echenique and sealing his third professional title, his first European victory since 2002.

Ryder Cup hopeful Edoardo Molinari was one stroke further back after a 69 with Open champion Louis Oosthuizen carding four bogeys in a 73 for joint fourth.

KJ Choi who was joint leader with Johnson going into the final day had a miserable afternoon after a quadruple bogey on the 9th eventually finishing with a 78.

To continue the European trend this weekend, veteran Bernhard Langer won the British Seniors Open by one shot at Carnoustie.

Leading from day one, the German carded a final round 71 to win by one shot from US Ryder Cup captain Corey Pavin.

After eight American victories in a row in this tournament, Langer said his victory was up there with his two Master wins:

"This ranks pretty close to my two US Masters and some of the Ryder Cups I've been involved in," he said.
"I've always wanted to win the Open Championship, I probably never will now but this is the next best thing."

It was a Korean one-two on the Ladies tour as Jiyai Shin claimed a one stroke victory at the Evian Masters, edging out the third round leader Morgan Pressel with a birdie on the closing hole.

The World No.4 returned a final round of 67 in blazing sunshine to finish at 14 under for the tournament. The 22-year-old is the first South Korean winner of the Evian Masters and will take home a first prize of $487,500, or €375,000.
