Nikon joins forces with HeinrichGOLF to offer Tour players the ultimate course guide
Posted by: Adam Smith on Wed 21 Jul 2010
The world’s best players will be able to hit their shots with the upmost precision on the European Tour this season thanks to the addition of a HeinrichGOLF Course Guide sponsored by Nikon in their bag.
The HeinrichGOLF Course Guides have been an invaluable addition to players’ bags and have made caddies lives easier at every major tournament on the European Tour schedule for the last 20 years.
Now thanks to a new agreement with Nikon signed at The Open Championship last week the course planners will be made using the new 1000A S Laser Rangefinder to ensure pinpoint yardages.
The Nikon 1000A S will be used to accurately map the golf course in intricate detail. This means that when the players show up for their practice round before a tournament begins they won’t be playing the course blind, but with an extremely advanced map book which will guide them around the many hazards.
“The Nikon 1000A S is so precise I can map courses with incredible detail,” said Graeme Heinrich, director of HeinrichGOLF.
“There’s no doubt our golf course guides are an invaluable asset for the players and thanks to Nikon’s sponsorship they are now even more accurate than ever before.
The Nikon 1000A S is unique because it features an Active Brightness Control Viewfinder designed to make viewing the target clearly easy in all light conditions.
An orange LED automatically activates in darker situations, such as a grey day or in dusky evening light, and LED brightness is adjusted according to the surroundings.
The Nikon 1000A S also benefits from a Target Priority Switch System that allows the player to choose between two distance measurement modes to either the nearest or furthest point away.
First Target Priority mode displays the range to the nearest target among multiple results obtained with a single measurement — useful when measuring the distance to a pin on a green with woods in the background.
Distant Target Priority mode displays the range to the farthest target among multiple results obtained with a single measurement – helpful if you have objects such as bunkers or other hazards that could interfere with the reading between you and the pin.
Other innovative features of the new Nikon 1000A S include a special ‘Golf Mode’ button that allows the player to choose to switch on or off the function that gives them an even more precise distance reading that takes into account the slopes on a golf course.
