Gtour 3rd Event - Moor Allerton

Andrew Lee (9) won the 3rd event of the 2010 Gtour season with an impressive 2 point victory at Moor Allerton which also saw him push ahead with his challenge on the 2010 Order of Merit. 

Adam Smith (6) set the early leader board pace with an impressive 36 points under testing conditions at the superb Moor Allerton course.  Earlier in the day the resident Pro James Whittaker had said to record a good score 'positioning is the key'.

After the round Lee commented on the course set-up, 'it's not a long course but with the landscape and tricky greens, every shot you are thinking about the consequences. There are a lot of things on your mind when you are about to take your swing which meant it took a but of thinking out there today.'

Smith's lead was short lived with Neil Harvey (3), playing in his first event, carding a gross 73 for 37 points.  Harvey held the top spot until the final few groups, in what was a long hot day in the Sun for many, when Lee came back with an exceptional nett 68 for 39 points.

Harvey's impressive 2nd place debut, in the 3rd full field of 2010, saw him gain some high valuable Order of Merit points and start at 22nd place from one event.

Consistency was the key on the day and with 6th, 4th and now 1st place finishes for Lee, he sets the early pace on the 2010 Order of Merit.

Lee added, 'there is still a long way to go and there will be some good scores as the season gets under way.  I've been pretty consistent in the first 3 events and pleased with where I am right now'.

The players now await the 1st Gtour Major of the Season at the Gtour Srixon Masters at De Vere Slaley Hall will take place on Saturday 29th May at a venue many describe as the Augusta of the North.
