Player Profile from the Golf Guru

How long have you been playing golf and what's your current handicap ?

I've been playing golf 32 years now. My handicap as a golf pro is scratch.

What's you golfing aspiration, lower you handicap, have fun, compete on tour ?

Right now I'm totally committed to making a success of my online coaching business. However, I still haven't given up the ghost that maybe one day I might compete on one of the PGA tours.

Where and how often do you normally play ?

I am very busy right now helping MYGOLFGURU to be a success, but I do try and get 18 in at least once a week.

What's the best part of your game and what do you need to work on ?

Normally I'm strong with the 'half ' or 'three quarter' shot, you know, that fiddly in-between distance. The weakest part of my game is expectation...I simply demand too much from myself, but I am learning to deal with this and balancing expectation against reality is the key.

What was your best golf shot or memory so far ?

That's a good question. I have so many great memories. But one I'll never forget it is when I was playing a par four and I pulled my approach into a forest of brambles which was about thirty feet below the level of the green. I honestly didn't think I was going to find my ball, it was that bad. Incredibly I found my ball, it was sitting on a ten inch layer of bramble branches so I couldn't ground my club for fear of the ball moving. I chose my sand iron and took an almighty swing at the ball and the bush! I knew I'd made a decent contact, but it wasn't until my playing partners starting clapping that I realised that I'd managed to get the ball out and onto the green. When I reached the level of the green I could see where my ball had finshed...three feet from the hole, wow! what a shot! I then proceeded to miss the tap in.

What's your favourite course ?

I've played many great courses. However, at a push my choice would be a wonderful course in the West Midlands, called Little Aston Golf Club . I would recommend it to everyone.

Where would you love to play ?

Augusta National. I've never played it, but it looks so good on the television. It would be a priveledge for sure.

What's your ultimate fourball ?

I think there would be two.
Fantasy fourball (all in their mid-twenties) - Jack Nicklaus. Muhammad Ali, Michael Jackson and myself.

Second fourball (present day) - Jack Nicklaus, Tiger woods, Greg Norman and myself.
